Still a good machine,

I purchased the HP Photosmart C4795 All-in-One printer in early in September. A month later, I can say that it was a good purchase. It has served its purpose and has worked fine. Here is my summary of this printer.
Wireless: Grant it, it took a while to set it up and I did have to set up the wireless by entering the Security Code for my Wireless. But after I did that it was a cinch. In fact, (at my home) I have two computers connected to it and it prints both wirelessly and easily!!! (The reviewer who could not connect it to the wireless at the job may need to put in a security code or so before it can recognize the signal.) Cable: As far as the printer cable is concerned, it is written on the box that it is included. I think all printers should come with one!!! Size: It is average size for a flatbed-all-in-one (It has to be at be able to at least scan a regular size sheet of paper (8.5 x 11 inch page) and then some space for the control panel, etc. it would be nice if HP or some other printer could make one that is not so tall, but the scanning and copying function seem to alwys require more space. Print and Copy function: HP printers are always excellent in the print department. The quality of the print is as expected of HP. However, in fast print mode, the machine ejects the paper out as if it's a kickball. (It kind of startled me for a moment!!) but you get used to it. The copies are excellent as well, especially color copies. Just stay aware of the ink supply. Scan function: I agree that it has limited scan capacity. I thought it would be able to scan a document and have it saved as an OCR file that could be edited. However, it just scans and does not convert. I deduced that the scan must be for photos, thus the name Photosmart. Ink: Also, I noticed that the ink cartridges don't last a long time. Fortunately, the cost of the ink is reasonable. Photos: Haven't used it for printing out pictures, yet. All in all, it is still a pretty good basic printer. The wireless function makes it worth it. The price listed here ($279) is not the most accurate or most realistic. It costs around $100 (plus or minus) depending on where it's on sale. If you don't need to scan and convert your documents, HP C4795 is a winner!!

So I just bought this printer today so that I can develop prints for my photography class, and let me tell ya, this printer is awesome! I have a netgear wireless g router from 4 years ago and during setup the very easily found each other. In no time, I was upstairs editing photos and then having them print downstairs. The picture quality is amazing on the photos by the way; I was printing 8.5x11 photos and they all came out very clean and crisp colored. BUT, not everything is great about this printer; after printing around 25 photos this evening I am now totally out of my tri-color ink (mind you this still is within 24 hours of the purchase). Besides the ink (which this printers happens to be incredibly cheap, so its no biggie), this printer is near perfect!

Wireless isn't helpful if you are always disconnected,

I have had this printer for 6 months now - at first it was great. Once I got through the wireless setup, it was great to connect my desktop, laptop, and netbook to this printer. One is on XP, one is on Vista, and one is on Windows 7 - no problems with any. Now after a few months, I am not printing every single day. Every time I want to print, I have to restart the printer because the printer is 'disconnected.' What is the point of a 'wireless' printer if I have to get in front of it before I print EVERY SINGLE TIME. At first I thought it was just a quirk ... now it has become an extreme pain.
Printing use to be easy, you just press the print button and out comes the paper - now it is an 30 minute process to get the printer in a happy state just to print. I hope I am never in a hurry.

Browsed online for the best deal to meet my needs and ended up purchasing this model.
Easy to initially set up and get ready. Followed instructions via the installation CD and after 2x3 hour sessions and an uninstall/reboot I still did not have it up and wireless. So I opted to try the HP support, well a 2 hour call and even he couldnt get it working properly. While I can still print with the USB cable attached, the cable is only 2 ft long forcing me to have to bring the printed down to reach the computer..kinda pointless for a 'wireless' printer. Im sure its an issue with my wireless router or IP address but it should be easier than this to fully install. Print quality on the few sheets I was able to print is however excellent even with the basic print output used. My pup knocked it off the box I was using (w/USB cable) and both the scanner cover and the touch screen fell off, so make sure its placed securely. Today will be another 2 hr phone call to tech support. Overall, a nice little computer, good value for the money, 'should' be fairly easy to set up/install but be prepared for maybe a few glitches, print quality good but may take longer than normal 3***

Woo-Hoo I'm Printing Wireless!,

Picked up on Black Friday '09 for $69+tax. Had it set up in 20-30 minutes on our wireless network. Using with both a Windows XP and Windows 7 laptop. Really cool scanning wirelessly to my laptop. Have printed from memory (SD) card inserted in the front, works good but no editing just straight printing. Printing wirelessly both docs and photos came out good. The unit is a little bit loud, but not too bad. Would I buy it again? Yes, especially for $100 or under.

Had this baby up and running on 1 desktop and 2 laptops wirelessly. Prints flawlessly, fast, and wirelessly. Couldn't ask for more at this price.

this is a truly remarkable product. let's say you want to do something basic like print a document. easy enough. though sometimes the printer will stop printing, every light on the touchpad will flash, and a message saying, "stop and restart the printer" appears. let's say you want to do double-sided printing. this works most of the time, but occasionally it will print the odd pages, tell you to turn the paper around and reinsert it so it can print the even pages. but it prints the odd pages again. there is a scan option on the touchpad. this will not help you scan a document. but it will beep. there is a copy option on the touchpad. my wife tells me this allows her to copy documents. it does not allow me to copy documents. but it will beep. the software that comes with it offers you the option of scanning documents or photos. but it does not offer you the option of copying documents or photos. i have not been able to use the software to make the unit beep. if you want to be angered and amused, this is the printer for you. if you are trying to accomplish complex tasks like printing a single page, copying a form, or scanning something, i would suggest buying something that would have a better chance of making that happen. like a microwave oven. or a basketball. or perhaps a pretty goldfish.

Get what you pay for.,
This review is from: Photosmart C4795 - Photo Printer - Color - Ink-jet - Print; Copy; Scan - Up To 2 (Office Product)
I purchased this printer for $70. And I got what I paid for. Black Ink cartridge yielded only 130 sheets of text. When I scan a color image in (using adobe acrobat or photoshop), the colors are very washed out. Blacks appear gray, and all colors lost their vibrancy. This is comparing it to a 5 year old HP all in one and a 10 year old HP scanner using the same software to scan. I would use my 10 year old scanner but it is not compatible with windows 7. Given the small ink cartridges and the terrible scanning quality, I don't want this thing sitting on my desk even if it were free. It's going back to the store I bought it from.

Good size, not ugly big. Actually have it sitting on our counter in the kitchen and its nice design prevents it from being an eyesore.
Very easy to use and set up. HP lives up to its reputation and adds a bunch of software that you don't need when installing the printer for the first time (if you have a mac - no set up required). BUT just delete it after and you'll be good to go! Overall very pleased. Looks great, works good, just what we need to printing out simple stuff. Get it!

I have had this all in one for a year. I have three printers connected wirelessly and it works without a problem for all three. I order the ink directly from HP which ships in one day FREE. They occasionally throw in coupons as well. Buy it, worth the money. Prints pictures really well also and I do a lot of photography.
