no need to spend big bucks on OEM. This one works just as well at a fraction of the price.

2.0 out of 5 stars Item arrived in non-working order
I'm still going back and forth with customer support on this item. They appear reluctant to replace it. Communicating with the company in order to resolve this problem has been challenging, as the company's representatives are not fluent in English and the emails are often hard to understand and are not responded to for several days.

I would give this product 5 stars but the only problem I had was that as stated earlier in a different reveiw the cable is a loose fit when plugged into the camera. It sometimes falls out or becomes disconnected and you don't notice until you go to shoot. Other than that this product is great, it does what it says. Its nothing fancy but it gets the job done and does it well. I would reccommend this product.

It seems to be a very good product. I would suggest
that it could be better if they have a proper
instruction sheet, instead of written on the package,
even that such a small letter needed a magnifying
glass.

I've been using this little guy with a 50D, and I love it.
I haven't had any issues with batteries dying, or the cord falling out, or any of that. Maybe I'm just lucky, who knows.

This remote only has a half dozen features, and it's a good thing because it doesn't come with English instructions.
Luckily everything is outlined very nicely on the English printed box. But really, it took about 2 minutes to master.

The performance of the C8 is excellent! It's not pretty fast. It's as though you're pushing the button on the camera.
The continuous shot feature. It takes up to 5 shots, one every 2 seconds, or until you touch the button again. It works, I don't know, I'll probably use it.
It also has a 2 second delay that's enabled from the remote. This I found really handy, since I didn't have to run back to the camera.

A couple things I didn't think were good design decisions were the plastic mounting foot on the receiver, and the telescoping antenna.
Those who had a cordless phone in the 80s know where I'm coming from. Other than that, it's built well.

All in all, the Cleon II is a great value. I highly recommend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works as expected, May 26, 2010

After figuring out the instructions were printed on the box, it works as expected. The connector that plugs into the camera is a little loose but I can still plug it in and let it hang from the camera (Canon 7D) without falling out. It also fits into the hot shoe mount with no problems. Range seems adequate and the half button press on the shutter works.

4.0 out of 5 stars great!, April 26, 2010

Once I figured out how to take only a single shot instead of a hundred, this little thing is amazing. A little slow sometimes, but still great.
Also the cord that plugs into the side of the camera falls out. It's not a tight fit on the 30D. So that is something to be careful with. But it's great for taking pictures of yourself.
And friends will think you are amazing when you're doing group photos. It's so much easier than the 10 second timer for one shot. Just click away!

(just be careful about wind when you set it up on your tripod. Mine fell over, and ended up breaking my 18-55mm lens. So sad, but not a fault of this product. just had to share my sob story.)

2.0 out of 5 stars unreliable performance, August 23, 2010

While this remote's rf link seems to work properly, it fails to trigger the shutter consistently. Here's my analysis.

There are two led lights on the front end of the remote's receiver, which connects to the camera. One to let you know that it's powered, the other to signal that it's receiving a signal from the transmitter. I pushed the remote RF transmitter button. the "receive signal" led on the receiver turns green, but the camera shutter doesn't trigger. The problem appears to be a bad connection between the remote receiver and the camera. I planned to remove this as an issue by replacing the detachable cable, which connects the remote receiver to the camera. The easiest to do this to purchase a wired remote, which has the correct camera connector on one end, cut off the switch and replacing it with a 2.5 mm connector, which is compatible with the remote.

The reviews of of the wired remote are generally poor, however, which make me think that the problem is more likely in the connector canon specified for its shutter remote.

really like this one..so versatile...bought it for self portrait but haven't used it yet...tested it out a bit, really like how u can use it wired or wireless. It also auto focuses...but you have to set your camera setting to either "one shot" or AI FOCUS...can't be in "AI SERVO", you won't hear the beep that tells you things are in focus...

4.0 out of 5 stars GREAT radio remote, July 31, 2010

This review is from: Phottix Cleon II C8 Hybrid Wired Wireless Remote Set For Canon 20D/30D/40D/50D/5D/7D/1D/1Ds/Mark II/Mark III/MKII/MKIII Using C8 Plug (Electronics)
This is a great radio remote! I am a bit shocked though, I just ordered, paid for, and received mine about a week ago for $36! Now today I came on here to write a review about it, because it is a great product, and see that the cheapest you can get it for now is over $100, plus $30 in shipping. I don't know that it is worth that much, in fact I would say wait until it goes back on sale. Not sure why it jumped so much. But if you do manage to get it for under, say $50 then you are getting yourself a great deal. It works exactly like it should, gets great range, etc.

My only complaint would be that it doesn't really fit snuggly in the port on my Canon 40D... BUT... at the same time, there is a nice rubber cover that normally covers the port, which when this is plugged in, IS held in nicely with the rubber part that is on the camera in it's natural position.

Over all, would I buy again? Yes absolutely for the price I paid ($36 and free shipping)... Under $50 total, very likely, over that,... I might hold off a bit or find something comparable.

If it does drop back down below $50, then buy with confidence, your getting a good product!

Oh, 1 more thing, DON'T THROW AWAY THE BOX... all of the instructions for the unit are printed on the side of the box, it would be a good idea to keep this around if you ever need to reference it in the future, ie to re-sync the remote to the receiver.

OH! that reminds me... one more cool thing about this product, (and 1 reason I'm frustrated the price went up so high) is that you can actually configure it to trigger multiple devices from 1 remote. So, imagine, with 1 click, you could have 3 cameras set up at different locations, or flash, etc, and with 1 click, snap! 3 seperate shots. Nice!
