Editorial Reviews

Review

'One may agree or disagree with the classification put forward in Dressler's new book, but everyone interested in orchids must have it.' Trends in Ecology and Evolution --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Book Description

The author feels that much more study and analysis is needed before a fully natural classification of the orchid family can be achieved, but this book provides a reference point in the ongoing discussions. It begins with discussion of structure and other evidence of relationship before proceeding to more specific coverage. Includes drawings and color photos. Printed in Hong Kong on acidic paper. Dioscorides Press is an imprint of Timber Press. Annotation c. by Book News, Inc., Portland, Or.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perhaps the finest summary of what is known about orchids., August 29, 1999
This review is from: Phylogeny and Classification of the Orchid Family (Hardcover)
Robert Dressler combines an encyclopedic knowledge of the taxonomy, genetic makeup, and geographic distribution of orchids with a completely understandable prose devoid of scientific jargon. If one desires to find out about the orchid family as it exists on Earth this is probably the best simgle source available.
