absolutely great!,

What can I say? This is, in my humble opinion, the best book in the secret series. It can easily be used as the sole resource for this subject. While not as extensive as Sapira or DeGowin, it covers more material than Bates or similar. I also think the inclusion of some EBM with sensitivity, LR etc. is a very good idea. While not as extensive as McGee in this regard, it gives one a good start in this direction. The auscultation course (heart sounds and respiratory sounds) that is included in this volume is the best I have come across so far. The author gives you many tipps and hints and explains the different sounds very well.I use this book all the time, and it is getting dog eared. For a thorough study I still prefer Sapira, but that book is written for masters, which I am certainly not, at least not yet :)

Informative AND entertaining,

Thorough and clear explanations of the physical exam, the purpose behind techniques, the history of their development and the people behind the exam names. (E.g. "What is a hyperkinetic pulse?" followed by "What are the causes of a hyperkinetic pulse?" followed by "What is Corrigan's pulse?" followed by "Who was Corrigan?" followed by "What is a water hammer?" and finally "What is the best way to feel a Corrigan's pulse?")The author risks providing too much information, but in the end, the devil is in the details, and it is the details - including entertaining back stories and mini-biographies - that make each technique so memorable. Illustrations and photos provide additional clarity. A terrific, comprehensive study tool. Perfect for beginning med school students, residents, and beyond. The accompanying Heart & Lung Sounds Audio Workshop is another must-have. I'll use these for years to come.

Very good review of physical diagnosis findings. The question and answer format is ideal if you get tired of the usual format of textbooks. I also like that the book has numerous tidbit questions thrown in that help make connections between facts faster and easier to remember.
