A great study guide, some math errors, not enough problems,
By A Customer
This review is from: Physics: The Easy Way (Paperback)
Physics: the easy way is a really good supplement to your studies, especially if you're going for an AP test. However, there are quite a few mathematical errors, and not nearly enough practice problems. The book is very well complemented by "The Physics Problem Solver", by REA.

High score with minimal effort.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Physics: The Easy Way (Paperback)
This book summarizes the main points in a very lucid and concise manner with small number of carefully selected examples which emphasizes the main idea. Because of the unique format of this book, students can grasp the main idea in a shortest time with minimal effort. This book can be helpful to review the main ideas before the exams or to grasp the main idea before studying the subject in more detail.

A Great Book,
By Jill Pilz (Pensacola, Florida USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Physics: The Easy Way (Paperback)
I am taking college physics and it has been quite overwhelming. I have looked at several Physic's books to get an understanding. I turned to amazon.com to see more choices and ordered this book. I am so happy. I love this book and can hardly put it down. Things are making sense now. I just wish I had this book before I started the semester. Thank you Mr. Lehrman. If I could hug you, I would!

Helpful as a resource,
This review is from: Physics: The Easy Way (Paperback)
I purchased this book to help with the Engineering Physics class I'm enrolled in. When the textbook used in the class is confusing I pull this book out and it clears the problems up. Perfect as a resource.

Decent enough.,

This book does a decent enough job of getting points across simplistically and making the math understandable. It can be slightly confusing at times though, but it's rare.

Tons of samples and problems.,
By
This review is from: Physics: The Easy Way (Paperback)
I got this book purely because of the many samples and problems it contains. Each chapter has at least 5 examples, plus 10 "try this" section problems, a short test and over 20 problems. All of the above are solved in the back of the book. This by itself makes it a great workbook. *****
The material is covered very well. There are some exceptions, take the chapter on Energy for example, opening sentence "Some people have a lot of energy when they get up in the morning" I wish Feynman was still alive so he can laugh about this. However the author manages to describe this and other phenomena pretty well. ***** And since it's a workbook, the answers and problem solutions matter as much as the problems themselves, and this is where this books lets me down. Problem "Try this" 10.2 on page 73 reads "A 60kg crate is resting on a ramp that slopes 32 degrees. A rope is attached to it that pulls, uphill, just hard enough to keep the crate sliding downhill at constant speed. If the tension of the rope is 40 N, what is the coefficient of sliding friction between the crate and the ramp." So go ahead and solve it, I did, I got some answer and then when I saw I got it "wrong" i wanted to see how it's "really" solved but saw this instead "60x9.8=588 N and then 588xsin36=346 N, then the rope supplies 240 N ...."? Needless to say that 32 does not equal 36 or that 240 does not equal 40, a totally different problem with different values is being solved where the solution to my problem was supposed to be. This goes on and on throughout the book and is very frustrating. Also, values are often rounded incorrectly. ooooo So as being a great collection on incorrectly solved problems I give it four stars average and advise you to not get frustrated trying to match your answers.

Not recommended for a physics student!,
By "ujjs" (Israel) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Physics: The Easy Way (Paperback)
I tried myself physics from this book when I was in 10th grade, and, although in the early going it could get points across, it eventually did a worse and worse job until, in electricity & magnetism, it had a tendency to confuse. Not recommended - if you are a student who wants to learn physics, get a real textbook, like Resnick & Halliday, or Sears & Zemansky. If you want a great problem supplement, get The Physics Problem Solver, by REA. It is a great book, and a must for physics students. If you are not interested is studying physics seriously, this book is not that expensive you might want to consider purchasing it. Don't expect to gain any deep understand and you'll probably have to ask some one who does know physics to explain a few points to you, but you'll probably get something out of it. So, I guess I'd give it 1 star for a physics student, 3 stars for some one who just wants to know a little physics but is not serious on the subject, so it averaged out to 2 stars.

I purchased this book to augment my Physics text (Giancoli). This book is absolutely useless. Many of the answers are incorrect.
