5.0 out of 5 stars Great for a thorough review., June 1, 2001

This review is from: NMS Physiology (National Medical Series for Independent Study) (Paperback)
This book has just the right amount of detail for course review, and it has a good, logically arranged layout. It's like an ideal set of class notes.

3.0 out of 5 stars good outline, December 18, 1997

This book provides excellent outline, but lacks practice questions. The book only have limited questions at the end of the Unit, and even then, the questions are sparce (~35 per unit of 5 or 6 chapters), instead of questions PER chapter.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is a gem!, October 24, 2008

This review is from: NMS Physiology (National Medical Series for Independent Study) (Paperback)
I was very excited when this book arrived in my mailbox a few days ago (I ordered via Amazon Marketplace for a grand total of about $5.00). Not only does it surpass BRS Physiology (Board Review Series) in my humble opinion, it can stand alone as a complete physiology text. Even though it is written in outline form, no details are spared-- the author provides a thorough and complete treatise of medical physiology. This book accomplishes quite a lot considering its small size: its ideal for two semester physiology courses, medical students, USMLE preparation, and reference. There are tons of clear, simple illustrations, figures and tables and the information is presented in a sensible and well-organized format with nice short chapters (as it should be!) At the conclusion of each chapter, there are one or more guided case studies which provide clinical applications to the preceding information. If you are considering purchasing either: BRS Physiology (Board Review Series), USMLE Road Map: Physiology (Usmle Road Map), or Physiology Third Edition With [...] Access I suggest you give this text some attention, as it may very well be your top choice (It was for me!)
