5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing!
I have read many reviews and I wanted to make sure my review was precise and informative. I am an African American who decided to go natural 5 months ago. I cut my hair into a bob, blow dried and flat ironed it and noticed my hair looked a HOT mess. I went to Sephora searching for a relaxer from the Phyto line. I was so excited to try this product because of it's reviews but was sadly disappointed. I have long curly hair and live on the east coast so taming frizz is a big deal for me. I have tried alot of products but this one is one of the most disappointing. Frizz-ease does nothing. Biosilk is nice but too greasy. Moroccanoil is nice but I have to use so much of it and it is...

Once I explained what I needed to the young lady she suggested this product. 1, This should be used and wet hair for best results. 2, You must apply from root to ends. And 3, a little goes a long way. I immediately went home and applied it to my dry, over heated, 75% chemical free hair. ( I know I should have waited until I washed it, but I was anxious.) This product was amazing! I blowed dried and I flat ironed my hair and you could not even see that I had 4 inches of natural roots on my sleek bob. I cant wait to try it on my hair wet. I also live in NC, which the sun and humidity can be a killer. I played with my son for an hour yesterday, and my hair still held up great. ALSO, you should not use this product daily on really course or frizzy hair. Once every wash. And if you are still having frizz, then maybe you are washing your hair too much! Great product.

5.0 out of 5 stars I couldn't straighten my hair without it!, May 14, 2004

I joined the cult of Phyto products in the mid-90s and never looked back. This product is used sparingly on wet hair, to help tame curls and frizz. I haven't encountered any other product that works as well as Phytodefrisant to get my hair straight and sleek!

Incidentally, a minimal amount is used for each application, so the tube lasts for a very long time...

5.0 out of 5 stars the best straightening product ever, January 11, 2005

I'm half Italian with spiral curly hair and for years I fought it, trying to straighten my hair with blowdryers and drugstore straightening products. NOTHING WORKED. Finally a friend gave me some of her Phytodefrisant hair relaxing balm and for the first time ever I found out what it's like to have silky straight hair. Because of the price I occasionally try other, cheaper proucts that come along but, I've never found anything that comes even close. I've also found that even though it comes in a small tube, it lasts for a long time.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this stuff!, July 8, 2005

Phyto Phytodefrisant Botanical Hair Relaxing Balm is an awesome product! I have been using it for years and I love it.
I have relatively straight hair, but when it's shorter, a few nasty cowlicks are evident and hard to handle. A little dot of balm in my hand, once through the hair, and I am in business, whether or not I blow dry my hair!
Most importantly, I HATE to wear product in my hair. I feel product in my hair the minute it has been applied. Most gels, balms, clays, sprays, etc. just weigh my hair down, making it limp and dirty. Phyto Phytodefrisant Botanical Hair Relaxing Balm never does any of these nasty things to my hair! I never feel it in my hair, but I know it is working like crazy!
I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a little control, wants to straighten wavy hair and blow dry (you get a beautiful and smooth look), or just wants an easy time of it without blow drying.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing product, January 2, 2006

This product is a must for those of us with thick, coarse, unruly hair. I must confess this product was not an immediate miracle worker for me, but after using it consistently for a couple of weeks and pairing it with the shine serum, I now have the soft, managable, shiny hair I've always wanted. My hair does not even feel like my own any more. A worthwhile investment, for sure!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best there is!!, November 9, 2005

I have very thick, curly hair that was impossible to straighten. Then I was surfing the sephora site, and I saw that Phyto Phytodefrisant was one of the most popular items on their site. It also had to coveted "Allure" seal of approval, so I figured I couldn't go wrong. I've never been more right! This stuff is awesome! With just a dollop, my long (down past the middle of my back), curly, frizzy, thick hair is transformed into sleek, straight "movie star hair" (so I've been told my friends). It's worth every penny and I'll never go back to the other crap.

5.0 out of 5 stars Movie Star hair 24/7, August 11, 2006
Phytodefrisant is one of the rare products that actually lives up to the hype by everyone who uses it. I have heard of it for years but never believed that spending lots of money will ensure great results when it comes to just one styling product, but even after one use I knew there was no turning back. This product is truly amazing as even one application in mid-day turned my hair into gleaming spun silk with glossy reflection and incredible softness and bounce. I can't begin to describe my surprise and adoration for Phyto for crating such a marvel of nature and science in a seemingly inconspicuous metal tube.

The product itself is an oozing liquidy clear gel like consistency and it disappears into the hair, as I like to put it in the morning after I wash it and brush it through. It makes my hair feel slippery and silky, and I love it. Ever since I've been using it, I get random complements form friends and strangers on my hair, and even my high lights are revived as they look fresh and summery. This really makes me hair feel luxurious and Im thrilled that I did spend the money on it, for now no matter what I do to my hair, its always a good hair day! As an added bonus I don't need anything else in my hair, which saves more time and money, it's incredible how this one product does such an incredible turn around on my mane, love it!

This review is from: Phytod frisant Botanical Hair Relaxing Balm, 3.3-Ounce (Health and Beauty)
Moroccanoil is nice but I have to use so much of it and it is so expensive it is too cost prohibitive.

Pros ~
1. It isn't greasy ~ I think I could put the whole tube in my hair and not have that gross greasy feeling that Biosilk leaves.
2. It makes my hair soft and manageable which is nice.
3. It does a decent job of controlling frizz but not a complete job. I still had some frizz.

Cons ~
1. This doesn't have a nice smell to it at all. Which is one high point of Biosilk and Moroccan Oil.
2. This actually leaves my hair very flat. I didn't use much of it but it weighed my curls down a lot.
3. This dulled my hair. ALOT! I had no shine to my hair AT ALL! Huge Con for me!

So back on my quest for that perfect defrizzer. I am trying Rusk's Deep Shine Oil next. Fingers crossed!

4.0 out of 5 stars Tames!!, May 21, 2008
This product works for sure!! I am an African-American female with very course, thick, thick, thick hair. I relaxed my hair with the Phytorelaxer which made it straight but not bone straight. That was fine because it does not strip your hair and damage it. I ordered this relaxing balm a couple days later and I used it after I washed my hair. I blew it dry and used a ceramic flat iron and the difference was night and day. My hair was not fluffy and big. It was much softer, no frizz and still had body. Get this IT WORKS!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Even MY hair can be sleek?, March 14, 2006
I have used this a total of 3 times so far and I can already see a difference.
My hair is kinky/curly/unruly. It's fair and I do highlight so I am prone to dryness on the ends. And frizz? My worst enemy. The real test will be when the hot/humid weather comes to town.
But so far, so good. It's worth every penny.
