5.0 out of 5 stars Seem really good so far
Started using this on me and my moms hair,so far there have been good results. My mom uses index 2 and I use index one. We're pleased with it,no shedding or breakage. It's strange, but like a lot of people have said, it leaves your hair with a wonderful sheen. I wish I had used this when I started relaxing my hair. When first relaxing I used Affirm which was good, but...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good enough to try it again.....
I just applied the Phytorelaxer Index 1. I have very thick, long, frizzy hair. Not tight curls, but extremely frizzy and puffy. Followed all the directions, and the results were okay. Would try it again for retouches, but will do Index #2. I believe Index 1 just wasn't strong enough. I wanted to play it safe the first time around see which strength would work best...

This review is from: Phytospecific Phytorelaxer Index 2 (Kit) (Health and Beauty)
When first relaxing I used Affirm which was good, but lots of shedding once a month. Then after 8 months I switched to Mizani Butter Blends which was good. However I think this might be better. So far I'm pleased,my hair is so healthy now it's amazing. By the way I self relax and this is very easy to use. Some people have complained that the relaxer is hard to wash out, and there's not enought neutralizing shampoo. Well rinse relaxer out with warm water first,do this several times, then use the neutralizing shampoo several times. You will be happy with the results. Sixty bucks is pretty steep, but for great non frizzy healthy hair, Worth It Worth It Worth It.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love love love, May 8, 2009
This is such an awesome product. I've now used the Index 2 twice and now the Index 1 twice in that order as I grow my shoulder length hair into even healthier shoulder length hair. I will never use another no-lye relaxer. My edges and all thinning is growing in so nice and thick. I have in the crown (where a use a little no ammonia hair color - Shamboosie book referred to below) a few previously broken strands of hair that are a strong healthy 3-4 inches long. My edges are growing in beautifully in my temples and the product does get hair straight enough - I disaggree with those who say it does not. It leaves a very slight wave next to the scalp so as to give the blow dryer and my flat iron something to straighten.

It holds well in humidity or rain if you spray your hair with setting lotion prior to using a curl iron or flat iron and locks in the set as I learned from the Shamboosie book (Beautiful Black Hair: Real Solutions to Real Problems). I follow his book except I use this product myself instead of having someone use a Lye Relaxer on me. I like the natural aspect of the product and can do it myself. I've done my own hair for 10 years and it has always been shoulder length - just always had a tendency for dryness (now i know that was the nature of the "no-lye chemical". I've cut my own hair for 10 years and keep it straight and blunt across the back (I'd cut my own hair when I had a stylist and was always complemented - even on the back so I do it well). I only had problems with the drying nature of no-lye relaxers that caused breaking.

I've found my solution. My hair no longer breaks and my roots and edges are so pretty as they grow back in. I recommend this product whole heartedly!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent relaxer!!!, August 13, 2008
This review is from: Phytospecific Phytorelaxer Index 2 (Kit) (Health and Beauty)
I've had this relaxer done professionally in a salon a few times and I love it! It cost me $100, but it is great!. I have coarse, thick, kinky long relaxed hair. My roots stayed staight for a long time, even through sweating and working out! Usually relaxers don't last on me. My stylist said that it is the most "natural" relaxer, meaning is has very little to no chemicals in it, mostly plant extracts, which is why they charge so much. It's expensive, but if you can afford it you will love it! If silky hair is your goal, then this is it!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Product, March 9, 2010

Hi everyone!
I just wanted to let you know that this is truly a product that delivers. To all the skeptics I will have you know that I was afraid to try this product myself. After months of deliberation, I finally ordered it and was extremely satisfied. I have a mixture of 4a/4b hair. I have many strands of hair that makes it look thick, but my hair is actually soft and cannot tolerate harsh chemicals or excessive heat. I tried index two after allowing my hair to grow out for four months to ensure there was no overlapping with my hair that was relaxed with a lye product. It is really important to follow the directions closely, like not washing a few days before or using a flat iron, which will make the hair follicle more vulnerable. With time this product will make your new growth straighter and straighter as you use it. As a nurse, I would recommend if you are a person with skin sensitivities or allergies I would not order this product or would recommend doing an allergy test days prior. Though this is not a synthetic product, herbs and other things from nature must be used with caution also, because they also can create chemical reactions. I hope this will help somebody.

This relaxer is very gentle and delicate. It does not get my hair bone straight, but it is effective in relaxing the natural curl enough to make my hair more manageable without the harshness of other box perms!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Product Hair Healthy Always Looks Shiny, January 9, 2007
Product came on time. I bought this a second time for a retouch and I am pleased with the results. It is pricey but worth it. i leave it on as long as I want to straighten it to my desire. With this product u have the freedom to do that, it will burn your scalp though, but that is after 40min, if you base it right, which I do. When ur hair gets wet it doesn't really curl up, it frizzes out a lil, not like when you have a regular perm. Sometimes my hair looks flat though, needs volume. My hair was really coarse when it was natural, now very straight and healthy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very mild relaxer that won't burn, April 30, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Kind of pricey; however, you get two or three applications out of this relaxer. Very gentle, doesn't smell as I was able to apply this relaxer several times without using gloves (something I would not risk with other brands). Good product if you want to fight dry hair and you have been through too many relaxers that break off your hair.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible product, February 20, 2010
This review is from: Phytospecific Phytorelaxer Index 2 (Kit) (Health and Beauty)
My salon stylist used to use this on me. She gave me a great relaxing job and I was always amazed how MY hair always seemed to look BETTER after relaxing, despite all the hype that relaxers damage your hair. Beat me! Well, that stylist left and I could no longer go to her for relaxers (she was the only one there who used Phyto). I wasn't aware that Phyto was apparently a miracle, so I went in for more touch ups from stylists who didn't use the same relaxer, and my hair was ruined! I thought all hope was lost. I contacted my stylist and she told me the relaxer she used was Phytospecific, and I could try it at home. I did - and my healthy hair is back again!
It is expensive but hey, not nearly as much as they rob from you at the salons. And I get 2 touch-ups from 1 package... and they send you 3 large samples. Very mild buring at the nape, but I probably should've used more of their protector creme. I'm a customer for life!

4.0 out of 5 stars One of the best relaxers, May 11, 2009
By
I have thick coarse mostly 4A hair with some 4B patches. This relaxer does not leave my hair dry and dull like most calcium hydroxide relaxers nor does it result in thinning hair and I have never experienced burning of the scalp (I have a sensitive scalp). I have been self relaxing with this product since November of 08 (every 8-10 weeks) and this is probably one of the best relaxers I have ever used. If you follow directions carefully, you shouldn't experience any problems. However, I don't like the Milk Protein conditioner at all so I don't use it and that's why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 stars. But other than that, this relaxer does it's job and straightens my hair with no breakage.

4.0 out of 5 stars Kind of early to tell..., February 4, 2007

I bought this stuff after reading all the great reviews. My hair was 4b and very thick. I hadn't had a perm in almost a year and a half. I put it in myself and followed the directions exactly. In the past, I've had really bad problems with relaxers burning my scalp to the point I've had scabs all over my head. That's another reason why I tried this product. It did burn, but not NEARLY as bad as other relaxers my stylist has used. It was extremely manageable and not very uncomfortable. I only left the product on my hair for the 25 minutes it recommends. It took something like 12 shampoos for the stuff to neutralize. My hair turned out curly instead of straight. Guess I didn't "smooth" well enough. I would def recommend to have a stylist put it in for you so you get the great results. My hair looks really great flat ironed, but the true test will come after I've had the perm in for a few weeks. My hair typically breaks off really bad right around the time that I need a retouch. I am hoping that doesn't happen w/this product. That will really let me know if it's worth the 60 bucks.
