Victor Wainwright can play some piano. If you enjoy that rockin' blues piano that is rarely found today, you could do a lot worse than Wainwright's debut. While the songs are not particularly memorable and a bit derivative, the underlying talent behind them shines through. I'd definitely give this artist another shot as his songwriting talent matures to match his piano playing chops.

First, let me state that I know Victor and have seen his band play many times. This is actually his second Cd, "Shoestring" being his first with family & friends. On this effort Victor and his band provide a compilation of songs covering assorted genres - there's blues, boogie, rock, gospel, swing, and more. An example of the range of this young artist. Fine piano as the previous recommendation states. Pick this up if you can. I gave four stars only because I know more and better is still to come. From the Bayou to Beale St coming soon...
