Radiant performances!, June 6, 2007

Among the most respectable pianists of his generation, the artistic career if Ashkenazy has been extremely successful. But if I was required for the major achievement of him, I would pronounce myself by this excel recording with Istvan Kertsesz.. With two honorable exceptions: the dazzling version and the unforgettable performance given by Mrs. Geza Anda and Clara Haskil. The accompaniment of Kertesz gave this version grandiloquence,radiant lyricism and sublime elegance.
Although the years have elapsed, this performance preserves that flavor, panache and sheer stubbornness like a good wine , improves itself with the years.
By the way, the cadenzas belong to Badura Skoda.
