Pennario's back!,

This review is from: Piano Cto 3 in D Minor (Audio CD)
At last, this wonderful recording by Leonard Pennario is available on CD, and at a wonderful price. Every pianist should own it-- Pennario's effortless virtuosity and elegance would be a bargain at thrice the price. The repertoire has been recorded by many pianists, but not surpassed.

The one to own,

When I was a boy Pennario was in his prime and a god in my eyes. This version of the third exhibits a solemn somberness to it that belies Pennario's Italian heritage. Surely he is Russian! This is the version of Rach's third to own, and the sound quality is superb on a Seraphim bargain CD!!! Thank you Seraphim.

The passion behind stages!,
By Hiram Gomez Pardo (Valencia, Venezuela) - See all my reviews (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER) (TOP 1000 REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Piano Cto 3 in D Minor (Audio CD)
The artistic commitment with music is something hard to believe unless you document yourself, his humbleness has nothing to do with his notable worriment about exploring and searching ceaselessly, new paths respect the music for piano. In my opinion this helps supremely to elevate increasingly the level of interpretation of any musician, that's why his powerful imagination, combined with his accustomed refined elegance and tasteful cheerfulness, made of him one of the most ranked pianists in a decade filled of stars in the musical firmament of USA as the Fifties was. This is not precisely my desert island choice but in honor to the truth, his approach is extraordinary majestic and sumptuous, there' s no even an apex of cheap sentimentalism but missed nostalgia, he played with authentic commitment respect the artistic outcome, leaving aside any other formal concession. This version of the Third must be included among the most expressive ever recorded in the history of the greatest performances ever made of this legendary Op.
