5.0 out of 5 stars Background music to a haunting dream, October 20, 2004
The composer managed to write original music that sounds as if if could have been written in the mid-19th century by an gifted, highly original, yet still Scottish woman, and make it sound contemporary at the same time. I don't know how he pulled it off. It worked wonderfully with the film and conveyed a sense of passion, fun, tragedy, and romance. Do yourself a favor and see the video or listen to this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another superb score from Michael Nyman, December 3, 2004
This amazing score to the beautiful Jane Campion film, "The Piano," proves Michael Nyman to be (once again) one of the best composers of our time. The score plays a major role in the emotions behind the film, and tracks like 'The Heart Asks Pleasure First' and 'The Promise' prove to be most haunting.
If you liked this disc, I would recommend other scores by Michael Nyman such as 'Gattaca' or 'Draughtman's Contract'.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best soundtracks , August 31, 2006

(REAL NAME)
The music is a delight to the ears and soulfully touching. Listening to this, it's hard to not have mental images floating around. I love all the songs. There are few cds I can listen to that I love all the songs but To the Edge of the Earth, Heart Asks Pleasure First, Here to There, and Promise are some of my favorites on this cds. I highly recommend this soundtrack and watching the movie.
