Charming piano music, February 24, 2011

Amy Beach was an American composer (1867-1944) and arguably a child prodigy, writing music and performing on the piano from a very early age. The present recording features a variety of these early pieces for the piano that I think most people will highly enjoy. There are some lovely light-hearted melodies, my favorites, as well as more serious and interestingly complex pieces. Overall there is a feeling of youthful joy and power.
