I used this text for both a beginning and intermediate piano course at my college. This book is by far the worst piano book I've ever used. Too many WORTHLESS exercises and tedious 'rhythm drills.' Most of the songs in the text are mediocre at best, while also incredibly boring to listen to. One such subpar song is the piece "One Four Seven." I think it was one of the author's original pieces, but its dreadful. I gave the book 2 stars only because of the massive amount of information packed into this one book. All-in-all I think you can do much better in a beginning piano book. A better book, for an adult learning to play piano, is Alfred's Adult All-In-One Piano course. It progresses at a decent pace. By the time your finished with volume 1, of Alfred's Adult Piano Course, you'll be able to play simple melodies and be able to harmonize them.

Do not buy this product, or anything from this person! i bought the damned thing and paid 72 some odd dollars for it and there was no cd! and of course there was no number to call to complain either! a pox on this product! damned thieves.
