5.0 out of 5 stars Can't wait for more!, February 7, 2001

This review is from: Piano For Quitters - Learn to Play Without Hating the Lessons [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Like many others I'm sure, I took piano lessons as a child but quit before I was ever really able to make music. It took seemingly forever just to learn the names of the keys and then to memorize pneumonic devices such as "Every Good Boy Does Fine." Eventually I was able to tediously plink out the tunes in my lesson book as the metronome ticked mercilously away; however, this was not by any stretch of the imagination fun, and I hated to practice. After watching Piano for Quitters even the first time, I was within minutes able to make true music of my own. Soon my children wanted to watch it so that they could learn how to make music too. By learning to create the fundamental elements of music, chords, we are all able to express our individuality at the keyboard as we create musical combinations and rhythms of our own. Our once dust covered piano is now lovingly played on an almost daily basis. I still am unable to "read" the music written by others; but now that I can experience the joy of making my own music, I have the motivation to begin learning once again. Thank you, Mark Almond, for this wonderful gift! I hope that follow-up videos are released in the near future. This method of teaching is definitely unparalleled!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best piano course, August 29, 2005
This review is from: Piano For Quitters - Learn to Play Without Hating the Lessons [VHS] (VHS Tape)
My seven year old son wanted to learn piano, so I bought a traditional piano book for children--he ended up in tears. I was searching for a way to teach him which wouldn't destroy his passion and creativity, or steal his joy of learning. While walking through the library, the title "Piano for Quitters" caught my eye. Within days, my son was writing beautiful chord progressions and asking for "music practice" to be added to his daily work chart so he could play the piano before his other jobs were done. Our whole family is now learning to play the piano and loving it! I am a former piano quitter--I managed to survive one year of traditional piano lessons, and tried various other piano methods, but by using Piano for Quitters (and it's sequal: Piano for Life), I am learning to play beautiful music along with my children and husband.
