This is one heck of a CD. It will transport you to other times and places, to poignant memories and emotions. If you like piano solo music, and classical piano, you'll love this. He's also an amazing live performer. I saw him open for k.d. lang and I was blown away!

Dustin O'Halloran's music came into my life, like many other things, as a great but fortunate coincidence. In this album, the member of Devics, delivers a set of straight up classical piano compositions (including "Opus #7", also released with Devics) that leave the listener with a sense of having heard Max Richter or Philip Glass without any embellishing ornaments or background keyboards to accompany the piano. Quite simply, it's an album you can listen to once and again and never grow tired of, with the word "never" being the most important one, since the sound in the album has a fairly timeless quality that will definitely make it sound just as fresh and touching in 20, 50 or 100 years as it does today, over five years after its original release. You can buy it with absolute confidence.

I'd read a newspaper review of Mr. O'Halloran's Piano Solos, volume 2 that made me think I would enjoy the music. When I checked on Amazon they had volume 1 as well, so I ordered both. I was glad I did. Both volumes are lovely, as well as being reasonably priced. The music occasionally seemed derivative, a little like Satie and other composers with New Age stylings tossed in, but still uniquely O'Halloran's own creation. I believe most people would like this music and I would buy future volumes when I learn they are available.

The melodies are haunting, inspirational, reflective, sad, and beautiful all in one. Buy this album and you'll see for yourself. This is the type of music you listen to while being perfectly still, looking at nature, watching a sunset, looking at a serene lake, etc. You take in nature and all of its beauty and you listen to these simple melodies and appreciate everything that is around you. I even bought the sheet music/book so that I can learn how to play the songs.

I actually purchased this after getting Vol 2 and because of it. V2 might be my favorite of the two but both are quite good. Of course it helps if you enjoy solo piano recordings. Add a rainy or overcast day and you have completely "set the mood".
