This review is from: Piano Student (Level 1) (Paperback)
This book is intended to follow the PRIMER book, NOT be used as the first music book a student ever sees. I learned on this series 25 years ago. Now I'm teaching my 5-yr old daughter. I've always used this series in lessons, but I had never taught anyone younger than 7 so I was concerned. I ordered a couple other books that were supposedly geared more toward very young learners, but in the end, I ditched everything and came right back to David Carr Glover in conjunction with Michael Aaron books. My daughter is learning very well and is ready to move up to the level 1 books. Again, in this series, the Level 1 book is NOT the first book a student should work through. Even when I have taught older beginners (14-15 yrs), I've still used the primer book first. They'll fly through it in a matter of weeks, but the foundation is too important to gloss over. This is a classic series that has passed the test of time with flying colors. No bells and whistles, just simple teaching of music fundamentals.
