This review is from: Piano Tribute to Rush (Audio CD)
Recommended only to colelctors who need every quasi-Rush-related object regardless of quality. I thought it could be decent background/ambiance music but:
1) The performer (if there is one), though technically precise, does not have a very good feel for the instrument; 2) Mediocre synthesized piano sound; 3) I would not be surprised if these are just midi files downloaded from the internet, slightly modified and run through a computer. In retrospect, I'd pay about three dolars for it at most as a novelty piece for annoying my girlfriend. If you are looking for a similar album, the various string tributes, despite all their shortcomings, tend to be better done.

As a lifelong fan of Rush I must warn anyone against this CD.
I own all the other tributes to the band, both good and bad, just for the sake of having them as a novelty. I wish this was never made. Sadly someone could have done justice to a piano tribute and it could have been great. This one sounds like a grade school music teacher playing a Schroder toy piano with one finger while reading sheet music transposed by someone who has never heard of the band. Each song sounds as if it was recorded in one take regardless of any performance mistakes or disregard to timing, scale, or measure. It truly is a shameless attempt just to make a buck and unfortunately it had to drag Rush's good name to it. If it was possible to sue whoever in their management that released permission to use their material for this I would.

This sounds like it came right out of a Rush for easy piano book. All I can really say is what the hell? The left hand is playing chords and the right is playing the melody...could it be any more boring?
When I first saw the title, I thought hmmm...I'd love to see what someone like Keith Jarret would do with Rush but this has all the imaginative quality of a karaoke accompaniment tape. For a really good piano tribute album, check out David Lahm "Jazz Takes on Joni Mitchell"
