Blistering Virtuosity & Breath Taking Sensitivity,
By Scriabinmahler (UK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Piano Variations - Beethoven: Eroica Variations Op. 35 / Rachmaninov: Variations on a Theme of Chopin Op. 22 / Liszt: Variations on "Weinen, Klagen, Sorgen, Zagen" (Audio CD)
The three variations on this disc display Katsaris' blistering virtuosity and breath taking artistry to the full. Fast sections in Rachmaninov / Chopin variations and Liszt variations are truly daring and defies limit of human ability! Slow sections are played with utmost delicacy and poetry. Surely one of the most impressive recordings the pianist made. |
