5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful learning game for older children and adults
I ordered these Art Memo card games for my nieces and nephews ages 8-12, and also for my sister-in-law who is an art buff. When we opened the cards on Christmas I was so impressed, I plan to order a set for myself, and my mother has also requested I order a set for her. The art is beautifully rendered, and it is very interesting to not only try to locate the position of...

2.0 out of 5 stars Be aware the colors are washed out.
I truly looked forward to using this product with my six year old grandson who loves 'memory' games ( and I can use the exercise), but am sorely disappointed in the colors - or lack of - in this case. I do realize that the original art in the museums is often 'washed out' due to the passage of centuries, but a child should see more differentiation that these cards offer...

I ordered these Art Memo card games for my nieces and nephews ages 8-12, and also for my sister-in-law who is an art buff. When we opened the cards on Christmas I was so impressed, I plan to order a set for myself, and my mother has also requested I order a set for her. The art is beautifully rendered, and it is very interesting to not only try to locate the position of the matching cards, but to increase the difficulty we try to remember the artist's name and the title of the piece. I wouldn't expect very young children to easily tell the difference between some of the cards, but I would still consider it educational and a good opportunity to begin familiarizing children with famous works of art and artists. My only suggestion is that the insert with information about the art could be easier to use, but it is convenient that it comes in multiple languages. Overall I was delighted with these cards and would happily recommend them!

I have owned this game for at least 10 years and it is still a favorite with my children as they come home from college. The box has deteriorated a bit, but the cards are nearly as good as new. When I played this game with my children, I introduced the artists and discussed the different genre portrayed on each of the cards. I am so excited that Amazon is carrying this product. I have wanted to give this game as a gift many times over, but have not been able to find it until now. I am ordering several.

This game consists of pairs of tiles depicting areas of famous paintings. Its suggested use is to play with them as you would use a deck of playing cards in the game "concentration". It can also be used to teach the names of the authors, titles of the works, etc. This game can be used in a variety of ways and seems very durable.

I truly looked forward to using this product with my six year old grandson who loves 'memory' games ( and I can use the exercise), but am sorely disappointed in the colors - or lack of - in this case. I do realize that the original art in the museums is often 'washed out' due to the passage of centuries, but a child should see more differentiation that these cards offer. They can experience the difference once they begin to travel.
Every one of the cards is pale and 'boring' for a child and I'm angry whenever I look at the cards (he has played it only once - he says, "It's not fun, Grandmama.") He says this not because of the subject matter, he likes art. However, I do appreciate the information provided with the cards.
Good Luck, if you indulge.
