I took my 10 year old and 12 year old to Florence last summer. We went into the baptistry, climbed to the top of the cathedral dome and to the top of the bell tower. The book for this model was on sale in the gift shop at the base of the bell tower. When we got home we worked on the model three hours per week for three months. My 10 year old did about 5% of it, my 12 year old did about 20% of it. I did the rest. There is a lot of precision work involved. Now that its done my kids walk by it an say things like, "wow, that was a lot of steps", "right over here is a great gelato shop", "let's go back". The model is not easy. The results are amazing. If we go to France next year we'll do the Notre Dame model next. Recommended!
