Book Description

3865216269 978-3865216267 April 1, 2009
This 348-page, two-volume edition contains extensive documentation of two pieces from 2003, "Picadilly Circus" and "Bunker Basement."

Using the Victorian interior of an abandoned bank on Londons Piccadilly as the on-site location for this video performance, and a rudimentary re-creation of that banks subterranean vaults in his studio outside Los Angeles for supplementary footage, McCarthy has staged a slapstick Twilight of the Gods that also doubles as the most disturbing Sadeian fantasia since Pier Paolo Pasolinis Salo.

First off. Mr. McCarthy if you are reading this. I've been trying to get in touch with you about an interview. I've sent numerous letters and messages to your UCLA office. Thank you.

Mr. Mccarthy does it again. This time he's a corrupt United States president. G.W.! It's actually two books. P. Circus and Bunker Basement. My favorite is B.B. Which takes place in L.A. inside his studio. Our hero has created a two story(funhouse/Jail?) complete with dreary color, stairs, rooms and tables. In it G.W. and friends proceeds to...go at it. It's complete and total mayhem...including dancing, food throwing, violence and my favorite self mutilation. I can't get enough of paul McCarthy. His work is like a blow torch to "everything I know about art". And at 60 he shows no signs of letting up!
