Pickin' on Gov't Mule

We attended the MULE concert in St.Louis, MO at The Pagaent last night and it ROCKED!! Before the show opened up the band was jammin' some bluegrass music. After a few minutes it occurred to all of us that all of the songs were MULE songs done in bluegrass music style. I loved it. I went up where they were selling merchandise at the show and asked if they had this CD for sale. Unfortunately, they did not. So I hopped online at my first opportunity to see who the heck made this cd and where I could buy it. I really enjoy bluegrass anyway. This CD combines MULE, who I love, and bluegrass which I've always enjoyed. At the show I was able to listen to the cd in it's entirity and it is AWESOME!! I gave the CD a 4 star rating because the only thing better than bluegrass MULE is the REAL MULE! I recommend it to everyone! Gotta go....I'm on my way out to snag a copy!

Saw a copy of this CD, battered, bruised and very unbuyable at a Sam Goody in Washington, DC just before the Mule show at the 9:30 club on the 27th of October. Shoulda picked it up anyway, because that night the band was playing it before they went on! It sounded great, and was a fantastic lead-in to the show, which was great too. I can't think of a better way to please the majority of people at our family get-togethers than by breaking this CD out; for us Muleys, we get our fix without having to listen to the parents and grandparents and other older "More decent folk" make snippy comments about the "loud noise... aint music!"
Besides, the playing is awesome. Let's face it, it would HAVE to be in order for it to be a proper Mule tribute. The songs are well picked (no pun intended) and are melodious, foot stompin' fun. If you enjoy Gov't Mule, buy this CD. You won't be disappointed.

I haven't heard this disc, except for the samples. It sounds good, but it is a tribute album. The musicians are not members of Gov't Mule. The songs are composed by the real Mule members, however. The bluegrass style is quite interesting. F.Y.I.
