5.0 out of 5 stars Necessary Reading for the Neopagan/Magickal Community, February 9, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: The Pickingill Papers: The Origin of the Gardnerian Craft (Paperback)
George Pickingill is one of the seminal figures in the history of both ceremonial magick and British witchcraft. This book provides as much information as possible on the man, given scanty rural records and Craft secretiveness. It tries to distinguish between the man and the legends about him. This book has several authors, all using the same pen name to preserve their privacy. They don't always agree with each other. This provides a fascinating overview of Craft politics in the latter half of the 20th. Century. Much of the information in this book was confirmed for me by Wiccan authorities in the States, who like their British brethren insist on absolute privacy. Everyone interested in modern witchcraft, Crowley, ceremonial magick or neopaganism should read this controverial classic.

a polemic and intrigant view of someone whi also know very deep the history of wicca. his records in history, antropology of witchcraft and the rebuilding of wicca itself is very abroaded and deep. a good critical view, if we take it as a personal view, not the official one. a must to sincere seekers.
