Exciting, Very Useful, Creative & Unique, A great Gift,
By A Customer
This review is from: Pickles, Peaches & Chocolate: Easy, Elegant Gifts from Your Kitchen (Hardcover)
This book is a great resource for those who love to give gifts that include food and thoughtfulness. All the ideas are so perfectly organized, easy to follow - makes it extememly useful. A great way to organize a book. Sections divided by no cooking, some cooking, a lot of cooking, etc. and every recipe has a gift idea so all the thinking is done and easy to follow. Beautiful section of photos. I have used at least 10 recipes already because there is something for every occasion. I highly recommend this book for any person that understands the love that goes with food, family and friends. I've also given this as a gift and had great joy in that. Hats off to this creative author.

Taste tempting and full of love!,
This review is from: Pickles, Peaches & Chocolate: Easy, Elegant Gifts from Your Kitchen (Hardcover)
This book is not only full of tasty treats but thoughtful suggestions for gift-giving! The cover caught my eye and from there it was pure pleasure wading through the many different accompaniments and special food ideas to please you and your friends. Not only does the author suggest how to package these items but unique ways in which to present them for gifts. A lot of thought has gone into this book. She has done all the hard stuff for us (thinking) and now all we have to do is wrap it up and give it. This book will be a treasure for many years to come. Thank you, Karen!

PICKLES,PEACHES AND CHOCOLATE - LOVED THE BOOK! I've tried six or seven of the tremendous recipes and all have been a success. It has also been the "MOST PICKED UP" of my coffee table books. If you are an accompished cook or a "Kluz in the kitchen" you'll find this book user friendly and all the rercipies and ideas perfect, unique and great host/hostess gifts! ( my favorites, so far, the "killer brownies and "papaya seed dressing") YUM!

Good, but many flaws,
By Mark Twain "Gillian" (New York) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Pickles, Peaches & Chocolate: Easy, Elegant Gifts from Your Kitchen (Hardcover)
This book has everything I love in a cookbook: tried-and-true recipes with descriptions of why they're so special. That's the good news. The bad news is that many recipes are just doctored up cake mixes/canned fillings (which is not what anyone I know would give a gift), and a disproportionate number contain Cool Whip and/or require refrigeration, and will only last for a day or so -- but the author gives no hint about how long to keep things. Refrigerated items (such as dips) are bad enough in a cookbook intended for gift-giving, but they are mixed in with the other recipes -- so, if you're trying to find something to mail or travel with, you'll have to go through the entire book, looking at the bottom of each recipe. What a pain! Also, it has one of the worst indexes I've ever seen - so, if you find something you want to try, affix a post-it note.

Litter Box Cake is NOT "Elegant",
This review is from: Pickles, Peaches & Chocolate: Easy, Elegant Gifts from Your Kitchen (Hardcover)
I was very eager to review "Pickles, Peaches and Chocolate: Easy Elegant Gifts From Your Kitchen". I had been looking a long time for a book where I could create elegant gifts from kitchen. Some of the ideas in this book are nice. Unfortunately, I would NOT call a Litter Box Cake "elegant" as part of the title indicates. Maybe that cake would be fun for some people, but certainly not "elegant". I found that to be extremely misleading.
But if you enjoy "Litter Box Cakes" than this is perfect for you. I found "Modern Food Gifts" by Martha Gill to be more "elegant", and more to my taste. |
