I often find myself thumbing through the pages in an auto manual wondering where the pertinent information is, and why it's not where it should be, regarding the vehicle I'm working on. Back & forth, searching for that one informative paragraph. More often than not, it's not even there, or if it is, it's not where it should be. I occasionally borrow a Chiltons Manual on GM Pickups from a friend, & find it hard to return it. I rarely use any other if I have his. So I've decided to purchase my own. Now I know I'll have the information I need to get the job done. In 1969, I was given a Chiltons Manual in high school as a gift after completing an Auto Mechanics course. I still have it & use it often when working on the older cars so I know I will always have the info I need, right where it should be. I wouldn't use anything else, because I've tried them & there's absolutely no comparison. Chilton's is the only way to go.

I bought this manual for use in rebuilding a 1978 Chevy 1/2 ton pickup with and for my grandson on his 16th birthday. I found it most helpful with all the necessary info for such things as valve tolerances, ring settings, helpful hints on engine rebuilding and remove/replacement of all sorts of items from bumper to bumper. Would not have started the project without this valuable piece of knowledge.

I Realy like these books. I think sometimes they go overboard with more models than they should. I found some great things in here but also ran into some I wish they would go more into detail.
I am glad I bought it. For the price on Amazon I could get two or three models of books and cover everything for less than a new one at the store.
