The straps were comfortable and it was easy to carry.

The top part is large enough to carry extra clothes in case of mishaps for my 3 and 4 year old plus smaller pockets for cell phones, sunscreen, etc.

I ride my bike 18 miles to work every day so I needed a pack like this to keep my lunch cool and fresh. This pack does accomplish those two goals adequately. I use a blue ice pack to keep things cool and do not have any condensation problems with it at all. My lunch stays cool for hours.

To address the rigidity problem that others have mentioned I solved it by taking one of those "road spam" signs (you know the ones at intersections made of corrugated plastic that promise to make you slim, rich, etc?) and I cut it down to size, bent it and slipped it inside the pack. That takes care of two problems! Works great and highly recommended.

Two things on my wish list: I wish it came in a smaller size since I'm carrying only one lunch and it would be nice if there were some reflective strips sewed onto it for night riding. I had my girlfriend add those. All in all it's a great insulated pack.

We ordered this bag for a recent trip to Disney World. We were able to put 8 bottles of water with ice in the insulated bag. We also carried ponchos, towels and snacks in the top portion. I would have rated it a 5 star but the bag gets a little flimsy when the top portion is not loaded. Otherwise, this is a great product.

This is a great cooler/backpack. There is plenty of room for non-food items (we fit 3 large beach towels, a mens xxl shirt, water shoes and some other odds and ends)or food that doesn't need to be kept cold in the top section and the bottom insulated section is big enough to hold lunch for four (4 to 6 water bottles, 4 sandwiches, fruit). Had no problems with leaking or making your back cold or wet even though we did put ice in a ziplock bag in the cooler part and walked around disneyworld in 98 degree heat. Actually did a great job keeping the ice cold. Sand from the beach brushes right off and there are enough outside pockets to put personal items without losing them or forgetting which pocket has what in it! The straps are sturdy and thick enough to distribute the weight evenly. Great cooler backpack for the money.

I'm very pleased with this backpack. We use this for family outings to the zoo, museum etc.

All the great points:
-It is comfortable to wear all day which is very important.
-It fits quite a bit of food in the cooler part for our family of 3 WITH room to spare
-The 'gear' bag on top holds a good amount of extras such as light jackets, change of clothes for our son and a few other odds and ends.
-'Gear' bag cinches closed as well as has 2 secure buckles.

Here are a few other things to note:
-The cooler does get a bit smooshed when you've taken all the food out as another review had said. It's not that big a deal unless you have to put it down a lot, it's not as sturdy for standing up (when top heavy due to the top being full). I have a plastic insert from a previous cooler I own and I'm going to put it in next time to see if it helps keep it more rigid - but, the pack is meant to be on your back anyway).
-The extra pocket on the front seems a little tight to me. I would prefer a bit more material there so it's easier to get things in and out. It's not terrible, I would just prefer a little more space.
-I used ice packs and didn't have any condensation or wetness the way another reviewer said. I think they said they used ice so maybe their bag leaked?

What I wish it had:
-A hidden inside compartment to hold money or credit card
-A water bottle holder on the outside of it.

Overall, very happy with the insulated backpack, it was just what I was looking for and the price point is great too. I've only used it once but it appears to be of good quality so we'll be able to use it for a long time.

I've been looking for a good cooler backpack for a while. I took this one on vacation with me and it was well worth the price. It's not as bulky as many cooler backpacks. I was a little worried that it would be too small because the actual cooler space is only in the bottom half of the pack, but I was able to fit a twelve pack plus ice in there no problem. The upper half doesn't have a whole lot of usefulness, but it's good for holding your crushed empties.

From the photo it looks as if this bag has more sturdiness to the top portion than it does. I use the bottom to store my camera and other things that require some padding and waterproofing and I am happy with that part. The top half does not stand up like the photo. It is thin canvas and mesh. The clips and drawstring system you use to open it up are not convenient for me, especially since I usually have gloves on when I am using the pack. As a result, I usually don't use the top half, so it hangs limp, while the bottom half is filled. For me, space is wasted, and the look is spoiled.

Our family really uses this bag. I bought it in Luray while visiting my parents and it was well worth the money. I am a celiac and my son has severe food allergies, so we always have to carry our food everywhere. I can fit two frozen icepacks, and lunch for four and it will stay cold for hours and hours. The top part carries my sons diaper wallet, in a ziploc, and fruit or special crackers or whatever else we have. The only problem I have is when I use the bag and don't fill up the bottom with something. The sides aren't rigid which allows it to expand, but it would be nice to have a wire frame or something to keep it rigid when I just want to use it for two people and a diaper bag. I would recommend this bag for people with food allergies, people who like to picnic, and families who like to go out to museums and such and take along their lunches.
