My wife picked this up for me as a daily lunch carrier since I tend to carry books and other items besides my lunch. It was a bit larger then expected but since I work in an art field no one seemed to make fun of it since some of them carry truly strange things. Although it's larger then I'd like it is good for what it is and therefore I recommend it.

    Pros:
    Rugged, thick canvas.
    Strong zippers, though plastic.
    Thick insulation.
    Plenty of zippered pockets.
    Large capacity.
Good for a day trip on the trail.
    External bottle carrier.

    Cons:
Cheapest water bottle ever made. Leaks. (You'll be replacing it.)
Velcro on small side pockets is worthless. Should be magnetic snaps.
Pocket inside main compartments lid is very awkward to use.
Main flap has small velcro strip. Not a secure fastener.

I work 10-12hr shifts in a factory. I was looking for a replacement to my regular backpack and separate lunchbox cooler for a long time. I don't like to settle for things that will "just do" so I spent months upon months before I finally stumbled upon this item. I needed something that would carry everything. Food, radio, chargers, extra shirt, gloves, ipod...pretty much anything you can think of. This cooler is thick enough that it stands up on it's own without falling over or collapsing in on itself. The bottom of the bag is a thick black rubberized base which has held up to a lot of punishment.

Just right off the bat......this is not a waterproof cooler so don't dump ice or bags of ice in it and expect it not to leak. I bought the Herolily techni-ice and while it does keep everything cool for the whole night it doesn't stay frozen. (that's not the fault of this cooler. it's an issue with the techni-ice over-promising and that's for another review I'll write soon). While this is marketed as an insulated cooler i wouldn't really compare it to an actual cooler. It does have some sort of insulation sewn into it but you'll need something cold that doesn't melt or sweat if you want to keep something cold/frozen for more than a couple hours.

Also, the picture shows a water bottle and the reviews have a lot of complaints about not getting the bottle with their order. When I bought this item the description stated it came with the bottle and I didn't get it either. Honestly, from what has been said from the few who got it I probably wouldn't have used it anyway. I just use one of my Camelback bottles I have for scout events. I see now the description no longer states it comes with the bottle.

So, let me preface this review by saying that I work as a flight attendant, and I bought this bag hoping that it would be a good food bag. It isn't, not for airline crews. For one thing, the storage compartment isn't insulated AT ALL. Any ice/cold packs will just leak cold air right out of the bag, so thats a definite minus. The top compartment for storing dry items is fine, but here's where the logistical construction problems set in- the bag is taller than it is wide, so when you put dry items in the top compartment, it bends over backwards so that you can hardly fit any items into the lower (cold) compartment. It's much better suited for carrying bottles of wine, two-liter bottles, or other 'tall' items, but it is ABSOLUTELY not made for carrying tupperware containers or anything square-shaped.

If you're looking for a bag for a picnic after a long hike, this might be a good purchase for you. The backpack straps, water bottle contain, and various pockets could hold everything that you need. But for airline crews, this ain't the one for you.

We took this backpack on vacation to Utah and this pack did the trick. It's a durable product and the photo is very accurate. My only complaint was that the the flap was a bit of pain when trying to get in and out of the main zipper compartment. I would still recommend this product.

I bought this to save some money during a visit to Walt Disney World. I froze some large water bottles, I think they were 1 litre size, and put them in the back zipper part of the large pouch on the inside. Worked very well. We put fruit in the top pouch on the inside and that kept it from getting squished. Water bottle holder was great also. Kids drank more water than normal just because of the novelty. It didn't come with it's own water bottle, though I expected that.

Only negative I can think of is that it isn't water proof. When one of our water bottles leaked due to not being closed correctly all the water got on my back.

I plan on taking this pack to the beach often. Even if just for the trip. I think the investment was well worth it.

Love this bag. Only been using it for a couple weeks but my job is 12 hrs or more on the road and with all the pockets in this thing I have a place for everything. Love all the pockets and the reach-through on the top flap. Zippers, stitching and material seem heavy duty and of high quality. Love the water holder, I can get a large bottle in there and it stays cold surprisingly long. Very secure. It comes with an inexpensive water bottle but I'd just as soon drop in the store-bought. Keeps everything very secure. A great bag at twice the price.
