This review is from: From Pictland to Alba: Scotland, 789-1070 (New Edinburgh History of Scotland) (Paperback)
This book is a fantastic introduction to the cultural, political and historical environment in Alba during the early Middle Ages. Woolf has a great capability to engage the reader in the narrative and help them come to their own conclusions. For Scottish medieval historians, this is a must.

Not For the Faint of Heart,

This review is from: From Pictland to Alba: Scotland, 789-1070 (New Edinburgh History of Scotland) (Paperback)
This book is an excellent study of early Scottish history. Of course it actually begins before it even became Scotland but it does explain how that came about. Not a book for someone who wants to "find their clan" but for those who want to really know where our people came from.
