The book is just as the seller described; it arrived in excellent condition and I have no complaint about this transaction what-so-ever... As for the book and the subject; recently a fossil of a very large pre-historic snake was discover, and I recalled this book from many years earlier; hoping that I could find a copy on Amazon; I did; Now I'm doing a little research, reading about such sightings of live giant snakes and the sort documented in this book; The world is still a vast and fascinating place; maybe such creatures still exist, and maybe they do not, but there are many stories of such encounters in this book; Stories dating back hundreds of years; One can only wander as to what such an encounter might be like today; What would you do? What would you think? How do you think others would react to your telling of such a story even if you had photographic evidence to collaborate such a tale? Some of the stories in this book date back far before cameras; the people that witnessed the event sketched the likeness of the creature to illustrate their run-in; others can only describe the horror of their encounter in words. Reading their stories and trying to understand them in modern terms is difficult at best; but if you read the same story looking through their eyes, in their time... Well they did the best they could to describe such encounters.
