A PICTORIAL HISTORY OF OWENSBORO - DAVIESS COUNTY (Kentucky) published by Owens Publishing Co., c1994, 148 pages. This book is a pictorial mosaic of the history of this area with over 500 photographs.
You will see the famous and not so famous, many familiar places and landmarks you may have overlooked. You will see how the community has changed and grown. You might even see a family photo of relatives you have never met. The photographs in this book came primarily from hundreds of current and former residents. With over 2,000 pictures to review for publication, they tried to publish at least one photograph from every contributor, while making the book as complete and compelling as possible. The chapters of the book are: (1) Agriculture (2) Business (3) Communications (4) Downtown (5) Faith (6) Fun (7) Hard Times (8) Moving On (9) People (10) Schools (11) Services (12) Sports (13) The River (14) Acknowledgements.
The one picture labeled "Downtown" is light in the book. There is no index, but some of the names that have pictures are: Roy and Julia O. Newbolt, Clem Hamilton and Mamie Melhiser * Barron Family, 1870 * Kathryn Coots Wright, late 1800's * Ada Bernice Harp, late 1800s * Cyrus Nall * Daisy Nall * Becky-Oldham reunion, 1911 * Clarence & Lillian Mackin * Mary Nettie Vowells 1888-1958 * Dr. Reginald Claypool Neblett * Edward Claybrook, late 1800s * Mary Elizabeth Bosley Oldham * Fletcher Lambert Janson, 1929. 16 years old and so many, many more. The cover of my book is brown, not blue.
I am new to Amazon, but have sold over 4,600 books on that other large venue. I promise excellent service and fast shipping.
