Patrick Henry,
By
This review is from: A Picture Book of Patrick Henry (Picture Book Biographies) (Paperback)
Good biography of this famous orator, warts and all. On the one hand, you meet an inspirational speaker whose words uplifted the hearts and emboldened the actions of the burgeoning American patriots. On the other, you see a man who repeatedly neglected his businesses until he was forced to sell slaves to keep financially healthy. Patrick Henry's words and beliefs made him a traitor to England and a hunted man, but he held true to his ideals and did not back down. He served his country as a leader of men. David A. Adler does a good job with children's biographies -- 1st or 2nd graders.
