This start-to-finish story of one dream house helps navigate the road to great design with plenty of practical advice. Pure Charm!

Scott Sanders' book...deals with the creation of a house that is indeed a dreamer's house...telling the story of becoming a designer. (The New York Times)

I LOVE Scott's style and the book, which I picked up after seeing his write up in the NY Times, is great.

It's different from most design books in that it's got an interesting personal story arc to it. You get a feel for his life-long passion around design and the sense of joy he is taking in making it all happen.

I give Picture Perfect 5 STARS!

Scott Sanders covers it all in his book! From his childhood influences to the different design projects that show how his signature style evolved and then finally getting the opportunity to design his dream project. Mr. Sanders provides the reader with educational design tips and step by step behind the scene photos of his dream project. Getting the opportunity to know who and what influenced a designer's ideas and creativity not only through out his childhood but also during projects is simply a bonus. I highly recommend this book to students, homeowner's and anyone who is interested in the design process and learning more about it.

I was pleasantly surprised when I got this book. I was expecting it to be like books from other interior designers- full of beautiful photos of houses they have designed during their careers, but very little text. This book not only shares Mr. Sanders' diverse range of work but also explains how he came to be an interior designer. I found it captivating how he could display talent and attention to detail at such a young age. His wealth of childhood drawings and pages torn from magazines not only clearly demonstrate how inspired he was by architecture and design, but how inspiration from his childhood is evident in his modern day work. I recommend this book as not only a beautiful coffee table book, but as a behind the scenes guide to what goes into designing and installing a home, and as a fascinating read about the life of a fabulous interior designer.

As an Interior Design student, I found this book which chronicles the start to finish design process of one family's dream home, extremely educational and insightful. Most design books simply highlight the end result with glossy after photos, but this book gives the reader insight into each step of the process from concept to completion through the inclusion of floor plans, fabric samples as well as before AND after photos. This book is a great reference for a budding designer or anyone who has ever wished they could design and decorate their own dream home!
