I loved this movie. After renting a string of movies while recovering from surgery I liked this one so much I went out and bought it. I have never liked him in anything I have seen him in, but this is definitely the exception. This movie is enjoyable, but very predictable.

I loved this movie. After renting a string of movies while recovering from surgery I liked this one so much I went out and bought it. Jennifer Anniston is very good in the comedic role, the same sort of roll as on Friends, but she is much less of an airhead character in this movie. But, my favorite in the movie is Jay Mohr. He spends much of the movie with "Puppy Dog Eyes" for Jennifer but holds his ground. Excellent change from his role in Jerry McGuire.

Basic story is Girl (Kate) wants Boy (Sam) and job recognition, girl isn't getting either. Girl's friend leads people to believe that she is engaged to another boy (Jay playing Nick) who she has only met once at a wedding. Nick gets famous and Kate's life gets complicated. She tries to get Nick to come play the part (for money, which he refuses) and he agrees to "come to dinner". Meanwhile Nick is falling hard for Kate but she doesn't want it. Or does she? As with many real life situations she doesn't realize what she is missing until it is to late (or is it?). Also thrown in is some really interesting information about teh dog-eat-dog world of promotions general and specifically the advertising business.

If you want a light hearted "chick flick" (as my husband would call it) get some popcorn and definately rent this one!

One side interesting fact. One of my other favorite "feel good movies" is the Cutting Edge where Moira Kelly plays Kate Mosley the skater. Picture Perfect has Jennifer Anniston playing Kate Mosley the Creative Director for an Ad Agency.

4.0 out of 5 stars Picture Perfect, May 23, 2005
This review is from: Picture Perfect (DVD)
PICTURE PERFECT is a fun romantic comedy starring Jennifer Aniston. She's having an office romance with Sam (Kevin Bacon) who likes to have no string affairs. She wants to advance in her advertising job, and to do so her friend lies and says she is engaged to this guy who she met at a wedding and got photographed with. His name is Nick (Jay Mohr). When her boss wants to meet him she has to find him and get him to play with the ruse. She becomes very manipulative and there's a few twists and turns along the way. Aniston was really good in this movie. A nice romantic comedy.

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Picture Perfect (DVD)
This is more predictable Hollywood romance, with a dash of semi-realism. While it is noteworthy to point out the strong female character that Jennifer Aniston plays, the script eventually falls into the classic mold of misconstrued circumstances leading (hopefully) to outright laughter. While the laughs never really come, the romance between Mrs. Aniston and Jay Mohr is charged with some believable chemistry. These two people really like each other, and not just platonically. Some of the potential laughs are forced, like every scene involving Olympia Dukakis and her loud over-acting. Kevin Bacon really doesn't come across as a believable love-interest, either. It would have been better had he been a complete slimeball. There are no characters to either love nor hate, and only the lead female character to admire; and for all the heterosexual men in the world, only Jay Mohr's character to envy. Jennifer Aniston eventually has to carry this film until Jay Mohr shows up, so the first 30 minutes are laborious. But once the chemistry begins and the embers start to glow, the movie reveals a kind of honesty that is refreshing. This is a solid rental; or if you are a hopeless/hopeful romantic, this just might be your cup of coffee.

3.0 out of 5 stars This isn't a bad film. I liked it., November 5, 1999

Jennifer Aniston used her best acting ability. She was just as good in this film as she was on the Friends T.V.show. She showed much of her personality in this film. She can be strong and assertive but at the same time, she could be humorous and fun to be with. If you don't want to buy the movie at least rent it.

This is my favorite movie of all time. Granted, it's not great cinema. It's romantic comedy fluff, but I love it anyway. Jay Mohr plays the most lovable character...you can't help but root for him. Don't expect a deep storyline. That's not the point of this movie. It's just pure entertainment. Sometimes, it's nice when a movie isn't "a thinker." I enjoy a twist-and-turn thriller as much as the next person, but this movie is just lovable.

3.0 out of 5 stars Sweet romantic comedy., April 8, 1999

This movie will be a favorite with those that enjoy such titles as: Sleepless in Seattle, Crazy from the Heart, and My Best Friend's Wedding. It is a romantic comedy that has the unassuming boy-next-door waiting in the wings for the career girl to figure out he has more to offer her than the flash-in-the-pan guy that she is attracted to.

5.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly good!, April 19, 2007

Jennifer Aniston, Jay Mohr, Kevin Bacon, and others of note star in this delightful and consistently believable and interesting, twists and turns romantic-comedy/drama. This flick is perhaps what made Ms. Aniston more a "movie-star" than her sit-com character, and it is easy to see how she made the leap. Jenny not only plays a sexy and hot-to-trot corporate, rather shallow advertising exec-wannabe, but also a rather wholesome, down-to-earth, and deeply desiring (but not aware of it), "good girl" who only wants to be truly loved for who she really is.

Jay Mohr is equally as good because in this film, he doesn't play his usual smarmy, over the top "bad guy," but instead gives a low key but effective performance as a rather normal, photography and art loving, "good guy," who eventually falls head over heels for Jennifer during an elaborate scheme by the latter to "use" Jay to further her corporate ambitions.

Kevin Bacon is a fellow corporate riser who is both a good guy and a bad guy, good in that he eventually comes to see Jennifer as something more decent and deep than he thought, but bad so in the way he seems to use Jen in a casual sex way. During the movie, all the characters behave as real people, and all evolve, leading to a very pleasing, linear story that pulls heavily on all of our most cynical strings where "true love" and values in life are concerned.

Fast paced, with excellent performances and dialogue, and with pretty good insights into various NYC corporate characters and what makes them tick, this is one movie whose heart in the end is in the right place. Somewhat a modern day twist on 1960's Best Picture "The Apartment" (one of my top ten all time films), there's a truly special blend of comedy and drama, and we generally "care" for everyone here in the end. And the end, which I won't give away, is just about picture "perfect."

While the film does have some confusing elements at times, and seems to swell at times with a bit overly done melodrama, almost everyting else about it is a series of well done, well scripted, well directed scenes, with some pretty good and timely music as well. When I first saw this, I really didn't expect much, and am not really much of a fan of the main stars, but this one is a real winner from start to finish.

I saw this movie a while ago, kind of forgot about it, and then saw it again and realized how much I loved it. Of course Jennifer Aniston is adorable, and the plot line is a little more original and different from the average romantic comedy. It's funny and definitely very sweet - I highly recommend.
