Clean writing and original concepts make it a winner!,

This review is from: Picture This: Perception & Composition (Paperback)
I am a professional graphic designer and I learned many things from this book. I purchased a copy at the Cooper/Hewitt Design Mueseum store in New York City, then left it on the plane, after reading all but the last pages. Now, I have to buy a new copy! It is one of my all-time favorite design books, and I have many. Among other ideas, she has an original way of describing gravity's influence on our perceptions in a picture plane. That alone is worth the money and time for this wonderful book

The Subtle Impact of Color and Shape,

This book is a gem to be treasured by all elementary teachers for their Art library. Molly Bang demonstrates the use color and shape to inspire creativity and emotions in the minds of young students. I had the privlege of attending her demonstration lecture some years ago at a Children's Literature Conference. There I was delighted to discover the subtle simplicity of her ideas; I even put them into practice with my preschool class. This book will open a new world of enjoyment and enrichment activities--especially in the study of fairy tales--while introducing basic artistic principles. I highly recommend it!

I was long interested in that book, and couldn't get it into my hands. Well, having discovered it at Amazon USA there was no other thing to do but buy it and hope it would really arrive here in Germany. Thanks to globalization and FedEx I am now able to discover how the old Bros Grimm fairy tale of Little Red Riding Hood turns into a fascinating study of how pictures work emotionally - wow! And, it really was deliverd by mail, not by a little girl with a basket :-)

This book opened my minds eye. Perspective is relative. As a web developer & designer, the value gained from reading through this publication will only be measured by the quality of work produced from here on out. I'd like to invite other readers to check me out on linkden.com.... Just search for Guillermo Perry. Anyway, Amazon is great for giving us a chance to recycle while stimulating the economy. Well done!

My art instructor introduced this book in class to help us learn about composition. It appears to be a child's book. It is not. Ms. Bang deftly teaches the artist about the power of composition.
I highly recommend this book.

This book captured the essence of teaching art. She drew us into the realm of red riding hood with her step-by-step construction. It took awhile before I realised that I was learning in a fun way. The author had constructed an easy to read book, sharing her observation as well as her knowledge of colours, shapes and space. I really like the fact that her concept is simple to understand, takes a meticulous effort to implement and probably a lifetime to truly master.
