This is a no-nonsense, hands-on cooking guide that assumes no prior knowledge of the kitchen. I wish I had had it when my father was suddenly on his own after my mother's death. It would also be ideal for college students--a big step up from grilled-cheese sandwiches made on the ironing board! And it's a great way to introduce children to cooking while respecting their desire to do it themselves.
