Book Description

It’s where everyone knows your business—and remembers everything you’d rather forget. But somehow the little Catskills town of Marsden draws the most unlikely people back home, turns their lives every which way, and helps them finally figure out what—and who—they want most…

As a celebrity photographer’s assistant, Celia Marshall is used to seeing all kinds of weird antics. But subbing as the model in irrepressible movie star Niall Crenshaw’s latest endorsement ad—while wearing his silk boxers, no less—is definitely not in her job description. Neither is falling for him, especially since he’s dating his latest co-star. To complicate things further, Celia is returning to Marsden to keep an eye on her eccentric grandmother—and Niall is driving her there, then staying to judge a talent contest…

Soon Celia is pulled in a dozen different directions, trying to get her grandmother to act her age, placating her frantic former boss who’s organizing the contest—and attempting to stay away from funny, sexy Niall. Celia’s always been level headed, but suddenly she’s wishing she could get reckless right along with him. Has the time come for sensible Celia to cut loose?...

4.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Summer Romantic Read July 20, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
PICTURE THIS is not your typical story where an Ordinary Jane and a celebrity fall in love. This story differs by bringing along the author's flirty style and wit, wrapped up in a healthy dose of honesty.

I love that the story starts out with Celia meeting Niall as they are both on a job. Celia is a photographer's assistant and they are photographing Niall's celebrity endorsement of McManus scotch. Niall is an actor who's last few films have flopped, but who still has to pay the bills somehow. The sparks between the two sizzle and after a second accidental meeting, Niall becomes determined to pursue Celia, even back to her small hometown.

My favorite part about this story is that Celia knew exactly what she was getting into when with Niall. She was completely aware of the baggage that comes with Niall's profession. Also, Niall was able to see Celia in her hometown and meet the people who know her best. Niall and Celia push and stretch each other and they each help the other become the best possible version of themselves

This story was sweet and swoony and completely perfect for a fun summer read.

Jayne Denker's fourth novel, Picture This, once again is based in the small, quaint Catskills town of Marsden. If you haven't already read Denker's Down on Love, the novel that introduces Marsden and it's inhabitants, then I'd suggest you might want to take a look at it now. But don't feel you have to as Picture This is a really self-contained story. However, there is so much laugh-out-loud humor in Down on Love that I don't think you'll want to miss it.

Celia Marshall, the almost girlfriend of Carey in Down on Love, is now a celeb photographer's assistant in the Big Apple. She's living her dream, right? Well, perhaps, but it does seem like a better life and career for her than the graphic design job she held in Marsden. Certainly being imposed upon (really blackmailed into) posing with Hollywood comedic heartthrob Niall Crenshaw for a whiskey ad wouldn't seem onerous duty, but Celia likes to stay in the background and the spotlight is definitely on front-and-center with Niall.

But love (or lust) knows no boundaries and there is apparently a very special zing between Niall and Celia. Even with his B-movie costar hanging on his side, Niall only has eyes for this Marsden girl. Niall will have a hard time to convince country girl Celia that he can be serious in light of the glam party atmosphere that surrounds him though. During his three-hour drive upstate into the Catskills with Celia with a game of truth, they begin to discover a bit more about each other.

When Niall says he's staying in Marsden to help out with a project, I wasn't sure how this story would evolve. Seriously, the residents of Marsden were so wacky in Down on Love that with their nosiness they drove the heroine back to Boston.

Picture This, Denker, Jayne.
Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews.
A fun read this one but not quite what I anticipated. With Niall being a film star I thought there'd be more of that side of the celebrity life but the was little of it. I was anticipating too more fireworks and jealousy from the co star he was dating ….but that sort of disappeared mostly, rather than the furore and jealousy I expected it was pretty tame and neatly sorted.
Celia was sweet, one of those people who try to please everyone and end up frazzled and taken advantage of. When she and Niall are in her home town Marsden, its a typical small town scene where everyone knows everything and gossip travels fast. There were some humorous moments but somehow for me the romance side of it was a bit lacking.
Its a decent read, well written but just a bit lacking in drama and emotion for me. Its a very light, easy to read novel for those that want that sort of read, I just like a bit more depth.
Stars: Three and a half.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great small town romance July 17, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
Fun, touching, sweet read that lovers of small town romances will adore. An incredible group of characters and laugh out loud humor make this a great read. Very well written with a great storyline. When hunky Hollywood star Niall Crenshaw meets Celia Marshall on a photo shoot he is immediately taken with her. So when she is called back to her hometown of Marsden, Niall decides to go along and agrees to emcee the local talent show. I highly recommend this one!

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly Engaging Read! July 20, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
As a huge fan of Down on Love, the first installment of Ms. Denker's Marsden series, I couldn't wait to read Picture This! Celia Marshall, the classic girl next door, has always done what was expected of her. However, following the heartbreak of a failed marriage AND the failed rekindling of a high school romance, she seeks freedom from the scrutiny of her small town and escapes to the big city as a photographer's assistant. With the arrival of the charming movie star, Niall Crenshaw, Celia's life becomes a lot more complicated. Celia and Niall are immediately drawn to each other, but are kept apart by Niall's relationship with his costar, Tiffany. When her grandmother's health begins to fail, Celia returns to Marsden with Niall hot on her heels. Once again, I found myself enthralled with the inhabitants of this quaint town. They are quite nosy and opinionated, but they are also fiercely loyal and VERY lovable. I really enjoyed being able to fall back in with them as Celia struggled to take care of her grandmother and cope with her mounting feelings for Niall. (It was so good to hear about George and Casey again!) I continue to be impressed by Ms. Denker's engaging stories, witty dialogue, well developed characters and her incredible talent for making my stomach flip with her steamy scenes. The second romp with the hilarious residents of Marsden ended far too quickly! I am eagerly awaiting the third installment!

More About the Author

Jayne Denker divides her time between working hard to bring the funny in her romantic comedies and raising a young son who's way too clever for his own good. She lives in a small village in western New York that is in no way, shape, or form related to the small village in her Marsden novels Down on Love and Picture This. When she's not hard at work on another novel, the social media addict can usually be found frittering away startling amounts of time on Facebook (Jayne Denker Author) and Twitter (@JDenkerAuthor).
