Like Hickenlooper's HEARTS OF DARKNESS ABOUT THE MAKING OF APOCALYPSE NOW, this film is another powerful examination of a major Hollywood director at the end of his rope. Rather than the Phillipines, this time the setting is a small Texas town, and like an onion, the layers of fiction and reality are beautifully unlayered as we see how the filmmaking process comes to turn a cast, a crew and a community upside down. If you think THE LAST PICTURE SHOW is a classic, then you'll have to see how it came to be in PICTURE THIS...
