I was not sure what to expect as I have over 100 books on playing pool. I must say I was pleased to not only enjoy reading Picture Yourself Shooting Pool but the video was a major plus.

In the Marine Corps the best comment you can get from a D.I. is "Outstanding" and I have to say this book falls into the "outstanding" list of books. In fact, I have an Adult Ed class that I teach in the local high school and I start new classes this fall, I will recommend this book to them without any problem. I have already mentioned it to some of my beginner classes.

Not all pool and billiards instructors are the same when it comes to what is the correct way to teach this material, and I feel Matt Sherman covered it very well. Of course, there are some things that I teach a little differently, but it still comes out the same way. If I had to make any comment about this book to anyone who was interested in learning the basics his book is on the "top" of the list.

What's great about this book is that it comes with a 2hr and 45min DVD bonus mirroring much of what is said in the book. There is so much content that I was seduced into watching the video first so I had an even better idea of what the author was trying to demonstrate as I read.

This book is helpful for anyone willing to really take a look into what mechanics makes a "good" shot good. I'd say it's perfect for the beginner, and also good for more advanced players who want to weigh if their current shooting style could be improved upon.

I was tired of going out with my friends, them playing pool and me hanging out watching clueless on the side lines so I picked up this book to help me understand and actually learn to enjoy the game. The pictures and diagrams are easy to follow for a beginer like me but it also has fab tips for the more advanced and I keep it as refrence for hot tips as I improve. Now the only problem is that I am playing better than my experienced friends and they want the book too!! Top marks for this handy guide.

I simply cannot think of a better way to learn how to play pool than from a true master of the game. This book contains fantastic pictures and instructions on learning the art of the game. It's definately worth your time and money!

I haven't had the chance to read Matt's book yet but I've taken a personal lesson from him down at the hall and his instruction was excellent (it has improved my playing) and he is an incredible player. I can recomend the book without reading it with confidence that it has the same good instruction that I received from him at the table. Good luck with your billiard endeavors. Cheers

This book along with the companion DVD helped me learn to not just be a better pool player but have more fun beating up on my boyfriend when we go to the local pool hall. Now I can hustle everyone at the hall!

This is DEFINITELY the best investment I've made in my pool skills!

I was quite surprised by how beautifully illustrated with color photos this book was. I am by no means an expert and am looking forward to getting my game on while in vet school. I didn't realize all the different ways from improving my stance, posture, where I aim, etc that I could employ to improve my game and accuracy. Ok, so I knew I wasn't perfect but now with the help of the book, I actually know what to do and how to change it.
Kudos to Matt for putting together such a useful and well written book. I shouldn't forgot that it also includes a well made DVD.

I've read several books on pool, and for their time, they are good. But this one blows them all away, and I'll tell you why.

-It's modern. Beautiful, color photographs and up-to-date terminology and techniques.

-Passion. Sherman deeply cares about pool, its history, and wanting the industry to succeed. He's a true student of the sport.

-It's unbelievably thorough. Sherman goes into great detail on every aspect of the game you can think of. No stone is left unturned.

-Conversational tone. Sherman's writing style is like he's having a sit-down conversation with you, and it doesn't read like a manual or an encyclopedia. The book is easy to read and you'll find yourself not wanting to put it down.

-The DVD. The DVD is worth the price alone. It's like a video tutorial on everything he teaches, and it's very well done.

This book really has no weaknesses. It's complete, thorough, and contains everything you need to know about pool. This the Billiards Bible, so if you're going to buy one book on pool, THIS IS IT.
