The release of "Pictures and Postcards" signals the beginning of a promising musical journey for Vincent Varvel, who supports longtime Jimmy Buffett guitarist, Peter Mayer, in his band. A brilliantly crafted collection that leads the listener through a torrent of jazz, rock, blues and classical. "A Long Road To Travel" is especially moving and reminiscent of the virtuosity of fellow Missourian, Pat Metheny. Vince displays a command over guitar with both grace and (often times) tenderness. "Processional" just glides along with the low rumble of Scott Bryan's percussion in the background. Along with Scott are established bassist, Jim Mayer (Jimmy Buffett, Pat Metheny), and Roger Guth (Jimmy Buffett, Scott Kirby, Peter Mayer).
"Pictures and Postcards" is truly a magical collection that will astound you, yet leave a smile on your face. Definitely a must for your music collection. Thanks, Vince.

This cd has quickly become one of the favorites of my collection! The music is thought provoking and emotional. Each song tells an instrumental story with such potency that you do not notice the absence of lyrics. The songs range from haunting to uplifting - with my personal favorite being, "She Spoke to Me of Angels".
Vince is an extremely talented musician whose breadth of inpiration is clearly displayed on this cd. If you enjoy instrumental music, and appreciate true talent - you will love this cd!

Just a quick note of review to share that whenever I am listenning to this CD I always find myself having to go over and check which track is playing. While it seems that each track is my "favorite", "A Long Road To Travel" and "Postcard" are just plain awesome. An excellent CD to have as the soundtrack of time spent with friends or relaxing alone.
