Book Description

In the peaceful northern California foothills town of Flynn’s Crossing, Serena Williamson works tirelessly to help vets receive counseling and support. Even with funding being eliminated and only months left for the services to survive, Serena is determined to continue helping those in need; cutting programs isn’t an option. She discovers, however, that sometimes redemption comes with a price—in this case, saving a mysterious loner based on the requirements of an equally mysterious donor. He looks like a vet, but she can’t find him in any database. Soon enough, that doesn’t matter; she’s already filed him in her heart.

Dane Ashland doesn’t want to be helped. Haunted by memories and internal demons, and with his secrets hiding in plain sight, he knows he is better off alone, keeping his past to himself. Dane builds a physical fortress that he hopes will block out the rest of the world. But with his internal pain already evident to everyone in Flynn’s Crossing, Serena steps in, hammer in hand, and before long he is relying on her in ways he never thought possible—and for far more than some work on his house.

Dane worries that she won’t stay with him once she finds out about the past he so desperately wants to hide—even though Serena may offer him the redemption he needs to reclaim his life. Now he must try to overcome his self-loathing in order to help her save a future that could help so many others.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Story! December 5, 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I really enjoyed reading "Pictures of Redemption" and would definitely recommend it. It has a convincing plot and very believable characters. It touched my heart because I know veterans who struggle all their lives with painful memories of the horrible
suffering and death of war. I liked the compassion of Serena, and the independence of Dane. Underneath his slovenly appearance was a strong man with a loving heart. The part about building a cabin in the Sierras made me want to sit in a cozy cabin in front of a warm fireplace surrounded by snow. Yvonne Kohana is a wonderful author. I am looking forward to reading her new books in the Flynn's Crossing Series: "Blooms on the Bones" and "Wine on the Water'.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Romance Novel with some depth! December 5, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This was an excellent book with great character development. I don't usually like romance books, they are typically very shallow. However, this one has a good story line. I recommend it!

More About the Author

Thanks for supporting all of us who write so that you, our readers, can enjoy the escape of a well-crafted story!

The Author

After careers as a management consultant and academic university professor, Yvonne Kohano returned to her first great ambition, storytelling in the fictional realm. Her current work is in the contemporary romance and romantic suspense genres, with an upcoming psychological thriller series in progress as well. A dedicated indie press author, she is a member of Romance Writers of America and the Sacramento Valley Rose RWA chapter.

For over 19 years, Yvonne and her husband John lived on a ranch where they used to raise llamas. Now livestock-free, they spend their time taking cruises, gardening, creating yummy dinners, and keeping their dog kids happy. They recently relocated to northern Oregon where they are submersing themselves in the foodie and outdoors culture. Yvonne's Kindle Fire is never far from her side, often stacked on top of a big pile of must-read paper books and magazines that serve as ongoing inspiration.

The Flynn's Crossing Series

Yvonne enjoys channeling her characters' voices and passions as they overcome real world problems and discover love. Her Flynn's Crossing contemporary romance series is set in a fictional northern California foothills town not unlike the one where she used to live. Of course, the beauty and wonders of the Sierra Nevada Mountains and the surrounding counties play costarring roles in her work.

The first six books in the Flynn's Crossing series follow the developing love interests of the girl tribe, a group of successful women who work through real world conflicts and challenges to find acceptance and love - with some suspenseful happenings thrown in! In the next six books, the wolf pack of single guys in the area find their true loves, but not without their own issues to conquer.
