As Mr. Reynolds was recording these songs he would post the more mild versions on Myspace (This is when Myspace was great). The songs were more natural and sometimes just acoustic guitar. I really like this album but would kill to have the old Myspace demo versions!!!!

It would be better without Willie . . .,

I liked Blue Merle and accidentally stumbled upon this disc on Amazon. It's one of those CDs that took several listens before I was sure I liked it, but it has really grown on me. The songs are cleverly written, and I like the variation of sound and tempo. The only song I don't care for is the one with Willie Nelson (I don't like him or his voice), but I have to say that the lyrics are good. I have really been enjoying this disc!

Having discovered this project just after recording was finished, and following Luke Reynolds heartfelt-without-hype blog with anticipation of the release, I can say with confidence that this is one of the best examples of songwriting and sound I've heard on one record since I bought my first copy of Jackson Browne's debut "Saturate Before Using". The balance is stunning. These musician's musicians read other like books and hold each other up to the light on every track. I hope it will be released on vinyl as well. I'll keep it in my "must have" collection along with Browne, Emmylou Harris' "Roses in the Snow", and Paul Simon's "Graceland".
This is what music can return to, if we slow down long enough to really, really listen.

I was very disappointed in this CD. Blue Merle was one of my top 5 favorite bands so I was very much looking forward to hearing this new collaboration. Needless to say the frontman needs to go back to Merle before he ruins his career.
