In a well-balanced, standardized format, each book discusses the land, history, government, people, and economy of the particular country. The clear, factual text and abundant captioned photographs present a distinct portrait of the geographic, social, economic, and political conditions found in these countries. Subheadings within chapters organize the text and focus on specific national characteristics and concerns: Cote D'Ivoire's multilingual education challenge, Kenya's skyrocketing population, and Senegal's drought recovery. Although three maps are duplicated in each book, the corresponding captions highlight the featured country.
