Planetary Bluegrass, September 2, 2002
This review is from: Piece of Cake (Audio CD)
If your taste in Bluegrass tends to the traditional, this recording may open your ears in delightful and unexpected ways. If you have already experienced & enjoy Bluegrass as interpreted by various musicians around the planet, this recording will add depth and dimension to your Bluegrass vocabulary. There are 13 selections on this gem, and no two show the same facet. I'm a fairly experienced listener, but not until hearing "In The Not So High Mountains" (track 10), had I ever really heard -- for lack of a better description -- blues bagpipes. Davy Spillane takes the Uillean Pipes to new heights in this Lubos Malina original. There is a pervasive "outside the box" feeling throughout the album. ...
I took a chance on this CD as I had never heard of Lubos Malina. ... I am championing it here in this venue because the listening experience is very worthwhile -- and unless your luck was similar to mine, you may not find it anywhere other than online or in a specialty store.
If you can appreciate ... other musicians who can play in traditional idiom while at the same time elegantly breaking the ground rules, you will enjoy this recording.

Good Czech Bluegrass, July 9, 2011

Great Album - if you enjoy this type of music do not forget that Lubos is a member of one of the most popular Czech groups - Druha Trava. They even played for the US President when he visited the Czech Republic.
