I copped this CD because of the song, 'I Wonder Why? [He's The Greatest DJ]' feat. Keisha and Pam of Total. At first I thought it was a new Total song (and a Bad Boy comeback) but when I found out that it was by Tony Touch, I was like, hmm...I can no longer sleep on the DJs like Kid Capri, Funkmaster Flex, etc. Sure I respect the heck out of them - I just never bought any of their albums, until now.

Something tells me this isn't the most underground stuff that Mr. Toca (Tony Touch) has ever done. It's slammin, and has a few cuts that are somewhat radio friendly. The title track, 'The Piece Maker' was not touched by Tony at all, (and I knew it when I heard it) - cuz it is by Gang Starr and produced by the 'ALMIGHTY' DJ Premier. This track is bangin. Next is another HOT track, called 'Set It On Fire' by the Flipmode Squad. Rah Digga calls out the hook, and this song is just too hot. Next up is 'You Know The Rules' with Cypress Hill, and while this will definitely please their fans, I really don't like it when folks use the "N" word (even with the "a" )when they aren't Black (I know Sen-Dog is biracial) - don't hate, I'm just being real. Other than that, Cypress Hill represents as usual.

The 'Abduction' is cool...(feat. Wu-Tang), but I think the West Coast represents with 'Likwit Rhyming' with Xzhibit, Tash and Defari. The interlude 'Royce the 5'9' is tight, but I absolutely LOVE 'Return Of The Diaz Bros.' - this joint is hilarious, because Tony Touch turns into Tony Montana and talks more than a bit. Hilarious.

Next up is 'No, No, No' and this joint is a bit more on the mischevious tip. Lets just say 'lolipop' to be subtle. Then, the reason I bought this CD, track 10 bangs through your speakers, and you're ready to hear the first 10 tracks again before moving on.

There's a few other mentionables - I'm feeling 'Basics' with Mobb Deep, 'Pit Fight' with Greg Nice (he still got it), 'The Club' with Kid Capri and 'Get Back' featuring D-12 and Eminem. We saw D-12 (Detroit 12?) in the "Real Slim Shady" video on MTV...but unfortunately for them, they still get upstaged by the mad skillz of Eminem. Be warned though - Em spits the most homophobic rhyme of his career on this cut. Oh well...

All in all, this CD is definitely real hip-hop, and I have mad respect for Tony Touch for assembling all this talent on one CD. I just wish he incorporated more Puerto-Rican pride in the CD than he did - but I'm sure he's done this on his many other mix tapes. "The Piece Maker" is DEFINITELY worth your dollars. If you're more of a commercial hip-hop head, stay away, but if you love the artform and creativity behind the culture, you will be happy with this buy. The whole CD is QUALITY!

From Tape #48 until now, I have been blessed to own a copy of every mix tape "Tony Toca'" has put on the streets. Weather it was bought, given, stolen, bootlegged or copied, I have it! When all other mix tape DJ's scream and yell over the top of there mixes. Tony has set his own standard when it comes to given the hip-hip underground world what it wants. The underground classic " 50 MC's" (tape# 50), witch features the first time ever, the top 50 MC's of that time free styling on one mix tape. Many MC's have had their time to shine on past mix tapes Tony Touch has put together on his turn table, from Canibus, Eminem, Bahamadia, Nas, KRS-1, Mos Def & Talib, and many many more have spit some of the tighest versus ever heard. The Puerto Rican turn table Lord has done it again with "The Piece Maker". Tommy Boy has recognized true hip-hop talent and given Touch Entertainment it's time in the spotlight. This CD features some of the top MC's out today, from Gang Starr, Flipmode, Big Daddy Kane, Big Pun, Eminem, D.I.T.C., Prodigy of Mobb Deep and many more. Ruc and Roc AKA Heltah Skeltah along with Starang Wondah form BCC, drop a gem with No, No, No and Mos Def and Dela Soul unleashed a lyrical brain storm on "What's That?". This CD is one of my best buys of 2k in hip-hop. The entire CD is tight from track 1 to track 21. Go get it, it's a must have!

Tony Touch is holdin it down for Hip Hop, his "debut" mixtape is caliente. Although it aint nothin ground breakin almost every track is blazin. Mobb Deep, Wu-Tang, The Diaz brothers, Flipmode Squad, Big Pun and many others turn in 5 star performances. With Toca addin his genius beats and samples this is the hottest mixtape of Y2G so far.
