I borrowed this book from a friend, and I am upset that I have let this treasure sit in my apartment for 2 months without reading it. This book is awesome! The writing is simple, wisdom-filled and flavorful! Without making her characters heroic, you find yourself admiring them, because they are so human... full of good, but full of frailties at the same time. I didn't want this book to end, and I'm about to order any book of hers that I can get my hands on. Ms. Cooper is a good writer, with an obvious love and respect for her craft. More than that, without being preachy she manages to impart insight into human nature. I loved this book! The book and the woman who wrote it are classics!

A MUST READ! I found myself recognizing someone in every story. I then recommeded the book to my mother, who has now just started on "FAMILY". It is such a blessing to be able to read, share, and compare these stories with Mom. Some of our own stories caused the both of us to raise eyebrows, and blush. Thank You MS COOPER for bringing Mom and I together with LOVE, TRUTH, AND LAUGHTER.

This book is a must read for anyone who loves short stories. The opening story is one that I never tire of reading. J.C. Cooper reminds me of my grandmother with her style of storytelling. I am transported to my youth when I read her material and the characters actually seem to be people I know and have spent time with.

I'm enjoying the work of J.California Cooper more and more. I've never been one to read short stories but I'm hooked now. Each story touch my heart and reminds me of someone I know. I feel as if I'm sitting on the porch talking to my grandmother when I read some of these stories. So heartwarming. God's Blessings.

A wonderful, quick read. Her stories touch the heart and some even make you say "you go girl". Iloved this book and would pass it on to many friends. You won't put it down!

If you like short stories, and down-home stories, this is a must read! Ms. Cooper takes you back with her stories and it's easy to place yourself in the characters she writes about. Very short book, you'll finish it in no time!

I have just about every book she's ever written and I am never disappointed. I had the EXTREME pleasure of meeting her during my sophomore year of high school - I'm 36 years old now. I was smittened from the first moment she read the first sentence of the excerpt from her book: "Homemade Love". I have been a fan ever since. She is truly gifted with the ability to convey profound awareness in such a simplistic and honest way - she completely enthralls the reader with every turn of the page. BEAUTIFUL WORK!!!

You will not be disappointed. Buy it now - HURRY UP! :O)))

J. California Cooper is what I would call a prolific writer, but no matter how many books she writes (and I have read every one of them) she could never write too many. I am a prolific reader and read probably 20 to 25 books per month. I rarely read a book by a male writer and much prefer the writings of other women. I like to know how other women think and feel on any subject that they want to write about. I admit that I have many writers that I like and enjoy their books. When I find a writer like Ms Cooper I will order from Amazon everything that they have wrote. I always hate knowing that I am on the last book and will now have to move on and find someone new to read and wait for new books by my favorites.

I read books by women from any/and every country and like knowing all that they share about their culture. I often feel like I have traveled a great deal. I have traveled some but it is the books that I read from all over the globe that make me who I am. Reading is the single most important thing that we can all do to educate ourselves. To learn about other people in other countries. Without their books to educate us we would know nothing about them or the places that they live. I cannot compare the education that I have received from my choices in reading. So much can be learned from reading. The enjoyment of a good book and a wonderful writer cannot be compared !

I adore this writer. Her work is moving, profound and absolutely hilarious. Each book is a lesson, that's what I'm beginning to understand. Kudos Mama Cooper!!!!!!

J. California Cooper is one of my favorite authors as I truly enjoy short stories. This book was a replacement. I made the mistake of loaning the original to a friend. Glad I was able to find and complete my collection again!
