5.0 out of 5 stars Great for Summertime Driving
I first saw the video for "Love Song" on the now defunct Box cable music channel. The video itself was pretty cool; two goodlooking guys singing at a club surrounded by lots of attractive, racially diverse (seriously, a nice touch without seeming like they were patronizing minorities!), fun-loving and um, affectionate people. Although the video didn't quite...

3.0 out of 5 stars Great effort, but results...?!
When I heard "Push" on the radio, it was as if it was saying to me, "go get the CD, go get the CD!". I was simply addicted to that song. When they came to Vancouver, I finally decided to get their debut album, along with their priceless autograph on it.

Not many Canadian pop bands have made it big (not back then anyway-now we have SoulDecision), and many thought Sky...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for Summertime Driving, December 21, 2001

I first saw the video for "Love Song" on the now defunct Box cable music channel. The video itself was pretty cool; two goodlooking guys singing at a club surrounded by lots of attractive, racially diverse (seriously, a nice touch without seeming like they were patronizing minorities!), fun-loving and um, affectionate people. Although the video didn't quite suit the freshness of "Love Song" that I believe is Sky's trademark, it didn't clash with the song entirely, and unconsciously stressed Sky's ability to fuse two complete opposites (in this case, the almost innocent freshness of the song and the eager carnality of the video)and make it work both artistically and stylistically.

The main vocals are that of a man who sounds honest and trustworthy, yet is not ignorant to the ways of the world. The integrity of his voice carries over in songs like the aforementioned "Love Song," "Push," and "Dreaming." However, he shows his experience in the big bad world in songs like the excellent "Strange," which expresses a lifestyle built on extreme pleasures that has no regard for the destruction it leaves in its wake. "Strange" accomplishes so much because not only does it reveal the self-centeredness of those seeking out that lifestyle, it also reveals the conscience that they try to hide, the desire to reform, and the fact that no matter who we try to force ourselves to be, we cannot change what we in fact are. It is no mistake that the vocals express so much: the duo Sky wrote their own songs, so who better to interpret the exact feeling of each song's composition than themselves?

I have both versions of Sky's "Piece of Paradise"; the American release and the even more rare (here in the U.S.) Canadian release. (If you can, get the Canadian version: It has two more songs that were unfortunately cut from the American release.) Sky's music is the kind that you want to load into the CD player on a summer afternoon for a long drive. Learn the lyrics as quickly as you can, so you can sing along, too.

5.0 out of 5 stars SKY - Canada's Newest and Hottest Import!, October 21, 1999

SKY has got to be the best thing to recently come out of Canada. US listeners, pick this CD up. Nice tracks, smooth harmonies, and solid production. Reminds me of early "Style Council" years. Look for this group to keep moving later this year and early into the new milenium.

PIECE OF PARADISE - The first and only release from the now broken up duo Sky. The success of the title released track "Love Song" is nothing less than evident of what to expect from the rest of the cd. Simply amazing. Sounds including Rnb/pop/rock are all covered. Try the samples above before you buy, you will not be disappointed. Resident, DEE JAY.

Sky's CD is a piece of art. Every song is great. Of course the one song that sticks out is "Love Song" but the newer release "All I Want" is probably the most romantic song written. The duo named Sky have hit it here in Canada, and hopefully will achieve international success. If you're a fan of Savage Garden you will love Sky. GET THIS CD!

4.0 out of 5 stars Up-tempo pop to keep you moving., July 16, 1999

If you are a fan of the up-beat songs of Savage Garden, you will enjoy this album very much. It starts out with the ubiquitous radio hit "Lovesong" and then the better-but-less-recognized single "Push". I knew that those two songs were going to be terrific when I bought the album, but now I was moving into unknown territory. Luckily, I was wonderfully surprised by the next song "Strange" which surpassed both of the singles with its dance beats and catchy hook. I was set. I knew that the rest of the album had to be good. It was. "Shave" and "Some Kind of Wonderful" were my other two favorites, since I tend to favor the dance tunes, but they were all wonderful. Not quite as good as Savage Garden's cd, but getting closer to a "Piece of Paradise".

The first time I heard Sky I was hooked. I bought their CD and was even more impressed. These guys have some great sounds and it's hard to beleive this is only their first album. The album is a total package of pop, funk, rap and ballads. The production is top notch and you can only imagine that these two songwriters have an excellent future ahead of them.
