Blocks look good and connect well. Our baby like the colors and playing on them. However, after 2 weeks the 'funny smell' hasnt dissapated. I did wash each piece with soap and water.

The claim that the blocks are safe needs to be qualified to say in what manner. Eg; they are safer than ___ foam because _____. I have other EVA foam products that do not have this odor, so why do these smell?

I've bought 4 of these. One for my son, one for my baby cousin, and one for each of my nieces. I have no clue why or what all these odor comments are about. There is no odor. At all. This is a beautiful, GREAT quality play mat. I will continue to buy them for all the babies that enter the family!! I have seen other ones and they look so cheapy. Not this one, my son is 19 months now and that mat is still just as strong as when he was a baby, and it has definetely taken quite a few beatings. If you want a playmat, this IS the one. You won't be disappointed.

Definitely what I was looking for! I haven't really noticed a smell!

-You have to put the pieces together off center from each other, so if you need to fit the mat around other items you kind of have to jam them together.

Year old twin grandkids are just learning to walk. Most of our house is ceramic tile, so we are concerned about them falling and hitting their heads. Ordered a set of the Letters mats and a set of the Numbers pads through Amazon. Delivery was prompt and hassle-free. These are much thicker than similar-looking sets found as some big-box stores. They fit together easily and are great padding for the kids. We liked them so much we ordered another set of Letters and another set of Numbers, along with a set of Shapes and a few sets of edges. Now we can cover more than 82 square feet with the mats. Our six-year-old and three-year-old grandkids love them, also. The six-year-old made a fort out of them and the three-year-old loves punching out the centers, mixing them up and putting them back. We only have the twins a couple of days each week, so we put them down and pick them up regularly. They pick up and go back into their clear plastic carrying cases with ease.

The only complaints are the centers (letters, numbers, shapes) pop up easily and can cause some tripping issues for the kids. But, that will teach them to look where they are stepping and they don't get hurt when the fall. Also, I am concerned about how long the plastic carrying cases will last with the pads going into and out of each week. That's the only reason I didn't give them 5 stars.

I would recommend them and we will be ordering more for the basement.

I received the shapes play mat for my son at Christmas and I loved it so much I bought the rest of the set! I love this play mat. My son right now is 7mos and he loves feeling the textures and playing on this mat. Tummy time is especially better with this mat knowing it has more cushion compared to our hard wood floor. I don't mind at all getting on the floor with my son now each b/c it's much more comfortable.

I can't wait until he gets bigger and starts taking out the letters for fun! I love how you can take the mats and make cubes out of them too. It is of great quality too so I know it will last. This is a great find!

This is a must have for anyone with a baby and wood floors! It gives great padding, so baby can explore, roll, and practice walking/crawling without getting hurt when she falls! Some of the letters do fall out after awhile when the tiles are picked up, but this is not a problem while the tiles are on the floor.

This is one of our favorite items purchased for our son. It does provide a safe play environment on the floor. They are very cushy and easy to clean. I would like to add that there was no noticeable smell when new and there isn't any now over 1 year later.
A bonus of these mats are that my son also was able to learn to identify all the letters of the alphabet. He was only 20 mo and able to point to every letter by name sound only. We put together 3 sets to cover the floor but we even used it as a matching game. I'm here now to purchase the numbers set!

Once the little one started moving around (crawling, pulling up) we saw an increase in falls and bumps. This was the perfect purchase to put in his play area to make sure he didn't hurt himself! For him, the colors are great to look at and the material is soft to sit on....and chew! Perfect purchase for us!
