As observer and chronicler Jim Klobuchar has always been outstanding. Sadly, he is not able to let it go at that, but indulges in "meanings." As a synthesizer and philosopher he is woefully inept. This book does nothing to change that judgement. If you love mountains and the wild in general you will enjoy the descriptive parts of this book. It's fairly easy to ignore the rest. The book is better than its sophmoric title suggests.
