My pies must always have fine aged cheese for flavor because I cannot imagine many of my recipes, or my life, not touched by a strong essence of wisdom that comes with age. Each pie must be made and served individually because, again, in my life everything must be given exclusively, distinctively, and creatively because there is only you as you stand by yourself. Each of my family and friends must be honored and respected as the individual that she once was, as well as the one she has become, and the woman she dreams of in her future. - Jo Packham

The photography in this book is stunning. The stories behind each recipe are interesting. I have flagged several of the recipes to try, like the Fancy Egg Pie and the Traditional Rustic Chicken Potpie. Oh, and the White Chocolate Buttermilk Pie with Warm Raspberry Sauce! Yum! I think I'll go start a shopping list and head to the market!

I liked the idea behind the book but it would have been better to be organized by the pie and not by the chef. This book was read for a group cooking class social event and we all thought it was good and recipes were fun with the stories but we couldn't help but think why do we care about each chef, they are not commonly known and nice of the author to give them the spotlight but for the general foodie-cook we're really focused on the recipes and the pies first and the stories and chefs behind them second. It was hard to find the recipes since we couldn't just look up the pie list. Perhaps this wasn't meant to actually cook from as much as to read about the people but it may have pleased both types of the audience better had that been different. Fun idea though of what type of pie would you be and why for a social topic and interesting point of view that was not just the run of the mill for presenting a group of recipes.
